These demo's have been done via e-mail between me in the Sarf and t'other lads in the Frozen Wastelands that is Redcar! We now have the drummer (Malla Smith) back onboard so these with drum machines are a bit old now. Here's on of the new ones...80's METAL STYLEE!
The band consists of:
Steve Bardsley guitar/lead vox (Steve has also done some stuff on this site...namely a cover of AC/DC's 'TNT' and also Dokken's 'Tooth and Nail)
Malla Smith drums and backing vox
Kiko Rivers bass and backing vox
Moi on lead guitar and backing vox
we have a combined age of over 200!!!!
You can check out the band at www.blackrose-rockband.co.uk and see daft pics from years ago when me, Bluesplayer, Captain Spasm, Deisel and others used to rock the North of England!

John, Danny, Charles, John...cheers! T'was the Wolf matey. It's usually tuned to Eb for these occasions but I tuned her back to normal for our Moore collab JP. She sings...and I hope she still will once she's been chromed!

It's just a shame we don't have music like this anymore, this tune is stuff full of guitars, real instruments and talent. Keep it coming Chris!

Cheers eric...the band send me 'em and I send 'em back CHOCK full of guitar! the 80's was THE period of rock guitar for me after 78 when Ed started the revolution. So many great players destroyed in the early 90's by Grunge FANS (not Grunge itself). :thumb:

Sort of like we did with Boys are back in town. Granted, it's no comparison in production to this song but in my opinion one of the best collabs out there between me, you and PG.

Well, to be honest, this is only mixed using Cakewalk 9.0 and my PODxt...no fancy stuff but LOTS of panning. Hey, haven't heard that one in an age...lost it when my PC crashed. POST IT UP and lets hear the sucker! :)

I just checked on G101 and the final cut was posted by you, now the attachment is gone. I will dig around at home and see if I can find it, hope it's not lost forever, that would be a shame! lol. Worse case, I have it on cd and can re-encode it back to mp3 again if needed.

damm firewall at work won't let me download this so when i get time i sure will look foreward to hearing it. i think i speak for most of us here in the usa that we don't know much about black rose. i only know of it from what you posted on g101. i skimmed your site a bit but i still dont know how big this band was. i assume it was big over there or were you guys a local band that had a big following and made a couple cd's.? i really don't know. the music i have heard so far shows that you were some very talented musicians with a great singer who wrote some great 80's style rock but i don't know how far the band went. of course i don't know anything about oasis either. that seems to be an uk thing too. when you have a minute would you enlighten me a bit more about black rose. i see that when you post black rose stuff that the uk people get excited and i would like to share in that excitement too. :o

Very much a 2nd division band who mananged to break free from local gigs and played all over the UK and the odd European date. Much more popular in Europe and Japan but not enough to get more than a couple of albums and a handful of singles out. We seemed to be at our most popular at the beginning but, by the time we'd sorted out a sound and started to like what we heard, the state of music had changed from it (NWOBHM) being a cottage industry largely like the punk one, to big bucks as Maiden, Leppard, Saxon etc smashed their way thru. Were never really that popular at home except for maybe our local area but managed to chalk up 500+ gigs over a 4 year period.
Over last 18 months we started writing and sending stuff back and forth. Released a compilation album last December on Majestic Rock and now looking to find a release for about 14 new songs. Our drummer, Malla Smith is now onboard meaning we are 3 of 4 parts and we're re-recoding the stuff with Malla's drums rather than the drum machine which is on these tracks. I last saw the guy's in 2003 and I've never met Kiko, the bass player!!!
