View Full Version : What's you favorite color Strat combination?

For me it's Olympic White, chrome hardware, and maple fretboard. Just something about this combination does it for me. I am not a huge fan of bursts. My second favorite color would be black, chrome hardware, maple fingerboard, and a black pickguard with all white pups.

I am lucky enough to pretty much have my preffered style Strat. Granted it is a Mexi so it may not play quite as nicely as the pricer models (although it still plays mighty well)... but...
Arctic White, 3-Ply white pickgaurd (so it has the black outline to it), chrome hardware, 21fret one peice maple neck, and white or aged white single coils (3 of em. none of this nancy boy humbucker nonsense lol).
Here's the model i have...

Beautiful guitar, Danny. MIM vs. MIA is bullshit and I donut buy into it. I own a MIA and an MIM and the MIM Strat plays just as good and actually sounds better than my MIA Strat. MIM may be 4-5 pieces of wood to make the body vs. possibly 2-3 for the MIA. The hardware is different but to the degree that the human ear can detect whether the bridge is ally steel or pot metal - c'mon. It's like someone telling you they can hear the difference between a rosewood and a maple board. Pffft. It comes down to feel. When you are picking up and trying out different Strats (or any guitar) it comes down to how it feels in your hands...how it plays and how it sounds to you. What is on the headstock is all psychological really. Put a blindfold on and play different guitars and you'll be surprised at what you find.
Anyway, this is getting too lengthy now. Your Strat is beautiful and you get a great sound from it. I have heard your posts and can attest to this.
Here's a picture of my MIM Jimmie Vaughan Strat. It looks very similar to yours.

Nice guitars guys. I prefer black and white or arctic white. I used to have a japanese Strat that I loved. I had to sell it a few years ago due to a financial hardship and I really miss it! That guitar played and sounded fantastic.
My old strat with Lynch SD - Screamin' Demon bridge p/u
(also, my original Silvertone Danelectro my dad bought in 1960 from a Sears catalog, it plays nice but sounds a bit rough.)

I've always owned Imports due to my budget. I love Charvels and Jackson imports. Here's my MAIN guitar. Jackson 1994 JSX Concept I'm currently installing new Seymour Duncan pickups in her. SH-6 and STK Hot coil neck. This guitar PLAYS AWESOME and feels incredible to me.

I also own an EPI Les Paul Standard, Trans Amber with rare black hardware.

I used to own this awesome 1986 Model 6 Charvel. It too was lost to that financial hardship years ago. I miss it terribly.

They are linked from photobucket so it won't have anything to do with us specifically. Stingx, could it be that photobucket is blocked at your work?

Interesting read Pete mate. My thought is, that now that i have good pickups on my MIM, it is a perfectly great little axe. I wouldn't be in much of a hurry to get a MIA. However... when it comes to the very top end models and the artists models i would be ready to pay more for overall better qualkity. But yeah the difference between MIM and MIA are questionable. If i could have any guitar i would just go for the Yngwie signature Strat to be honest... Vintage white with One Peice Maple neck. would do me just fine :thumb:
Thanks for the link mate.

Good read. I say that Jap strat I had was one of the best guitars I ever owned and I've owned over 25 guitars at some point. I've played an american strat and didn't really notice the difference.

My fav Strat colour combo is basically my MIJ Tokai strat, sonic blue with rosewood board, pretty thinish neck with old style lacker which is really nice, chrome hardware, I like the 60's reissue models the best which basically what my axe is.

You guys might have already seen my axe on G101...

My favorite strat color combo is red and white. I had a local luthier paint this one. The pictures don't do it justice because my camera kinda sucks. The red paint is a deep shiny sports car finish. I read somewhere that the early strats were painted with the same paint as a Ford T-Bird "Dakota Red".
The black Squire with the hot pink pickguard is my daughter's. She requested this color combo. I found a clear pickguard and painted the inside (side facing guitar body) so she couldn't scratch it. She likes it. ;)

yeah i dig the red one for sure. nice creamy white, black or red (all with 3 play white pickgaurd) is my top 3 fave finishes for sure. very sex looking. as long as they have maple boards lol.
nice one mate.

I agree with you, Danny. I like all kinds of woods for fretboards on guitar but on a Strat and a Tele it HAS to be maple for me.

looks like a beatu to me mate. i love the 70's models with the large headstocks. i would fancy one of them but i'd want to slightly scallop the neck (about as much as very early Yngwie strat 'The Duck) and then laquor it... for nice shine. But its a fine thing indeed.
