View Full Version : CRT and recording...aaargghhhhhh
I am going ins(D)ane here....my LCD screen has been out since August...I am waiting for a stupid switchmode 12v DC supply!!!
How can that take so long???
Anyways I tested my SoSchall drive......but the screen kept driving me insane!!
That is the strange feedback you can hear near at the end, I just stuck the guitar real close to my monitor!!
CRT is nice but sucks for recording!!

Strat with SSL-1's and a SSL-2, plus a dummy coil....not that it helps much against CRT screenshttp://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Yeah man, anytime I have a hot patch that I am using I have to turn my back to the screen even with a regular monitor. It's good practice for quickly turning down your volume though :D

i turn the monitor off then hit record.:headscratch:
;)
Yeah I do that too, but it is annoying as hell!!
I wanna see what is going on!
It is far more convinient and practical, to have a visual when playing with no living person.

When i had the Srat with the lace sensors installed this type of thing never happened . but now i have these Dimarzio Evos , Hot Dog ! , it wails like a banshee :mad1: . I have now discovered a *sweet spot* , where if you have ever ridden a Motorcycle in the cold and rain on a Motorway and you get up real close to a Truck , you enter a warm zone and nearly all of the rain and wind passes over you , well if i turn and face my door with my guitar at about 45 degrees to the monitor , everything goes nice and peaceful . However the tolerance is very tight , if i move to 46 degrees or 44 , hells bells holy mother the thing goes of it :mad1: . So its always a character building exercise recording high octane guitar parts .

Hey that sounded cool Rid, (you playing chords?? :wtf: :P). I also have noticed that if you have a neon bulb type of reading lamp close to the guitar (mine has HB) it hums like a bee!
lol playing chords;)
.......like I only noodle away...hehehe
Nobody got what I yelled into the pickup??

You should be able to turn 90 degrees in relation to the monitor and get rid of much of the noise.
I normally have a LCD monitor, the damn powersupplyshorted out and I have waited since August for a new one....Packard Bell are tardy at best!
