Always loved this song since hearing Jeff Healey cover it, discovering it was ZZ and then listening to that and being even more floored.. Anyway, VERY low key playing and some vocals which, tho I can't stand my voice, I like it on this! Maybe blues in B is my thing! Break open the Thunderbird wine and get out on the porch! :maddance:

Bro!!! You found your niche!!!!!!! To hell with the Metal bro.....your a BLUES MAN!!!!!! LOL!!! Seriously tho Chris, this is OUTSTANDING!!!! First....the playing is beyond great....all the feel and nuances of great electric blues!!! The tone is soooo killer too!!! Has that raw, low key vibe that just suits this tune perfectly!!! And now, the shocker, at least for YOU!!! ......Your vocal is SUPERB!!!!! I have no clue why you think you can't sing VERY WELL!!! Has the obvious "white boy singing the blues" quality to it, as does mine when i sing blues, but still a very compelling, fantastic vocal.....lovely tone, beutifully in key!!!! What more do ya need!!!!!! This is a very very STELLAR performance mate!!! Going for the............................................... ..........

I agree with JPF, you are a natural bluesman...:thumb: :thumb:

I loved this cover you did and I loved the Healey cover..thx for reminding me of that

Love to hear you play guitar like this man, less notes mean so much more ( I am very much a minimalist)...the intonation on your double fret bends is spot on bro

Great vox, you really have found your niche...

let us do a Floyd cover together......PLEASE:yourock:

I do love your vocals. You know I have told you before you sound a bit like Tilbrook. The playing sounded super soulfull! Very nice tone...very very close to the ZZ version to my ears believe it or not. To me, this song was always a killer to hear!! MY second favorite to "Since I been Loving you" by Led Zep in terms of a "feel" song. Great job man!! Do more!! :thumb: :thumb:

Thanks guys...it's a confidence issue more than anything else. If you don't like the sound of your voice what can you do?!?!? Macman, I've just about finished the grandaddy of all Floyd songs (IMO!) and 3fingers is doing vox on it but if I get a chance I'll be trying 'Dogs' at some point...I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks Murph...yeah, it's just I can't control my voice the same way I can the guitar. After playing forever, I feel a kind of 'allegiance' with it that I'll never have with my voice BUT would love to be able to sing well! Thanks for the listen. :thumb:

This is a killer tune! Saw both Jeff Healey and ZZ Top play this live. Jeff was absolutely amazing to watch! Chris, I've always liked your vocals. You don't give yourself enough credit. I remember when you sang "Still In Love With You" and then re-did it with Roy cause you were unhappy with your vocals. Now, Roy's awesome, everybody knows that... but I liked your version better:thumb: Anyway, great job on this! Loved everything about it. 5 stars!!!

Thanks Bahamut and Charles...it's knowing where you can do it and where you can't I think...and I still am not sure what my range is. I'm doing a cover of my fave song of all time at the moment (the one I would ask I'm buried to!) and I would LOVED to have done the vox and thought I could...until I tried. Then I realised I would be killing it dead...enter 3fingers...we'll keep you posted!

Cheers. :thumb:

This could be coming straight out of some hi-end studio with top studio performers, and you couldn't convince me otherwise... That includes the vocals. I think this is a new favorite for me, from your catalog of GREAT stuff. :yourock:

beautiful guitar sound on the opening of the track. Classic strat sound (this is where you tell me it isn't :)) and it sounds like it is sweetened with a little compression which I like.

Vocals are really on the money. I haven't heard the original but this stands on its own with pride. Loved it mate. :thumb:

Thanks mate...yeah, it was the Levinson; I'm on a mission to buy 'em all up before the secret is out about how much better than Fender they are! Keep it to yourself! :thumb:

Took me a sec to get used to the differences but it is quite a good rendition. This is one of my favs, I know the whole song lick for lick. Can't play it but it's one of those that I've just sat in the dark listening to over and over.

Did you use a BT or did you create it on your own?

ZZ Top did a lot of great blues stuff.

Good job.

Nice post, what can I say that has not been said. Beautiful job on this tune. Loved the bell tone on the strat or whatever you used. Great use of phrasing, great feel and some monster licks on this one. Have to agree about the vox, you have a great sound! I'll hit you up with a 5 star rating on this tune.
