Here is Fred (it might be Freeda as yet :) ), a very young Blackbird that hangs around in my garden.

The first time i ever saw Fred, it was very young, very fluffy, and very tame.
I believe it lost its parents and was left to fend for itself, as unlike alot of the other young blackbirds, it wasn't getting fed by an adult or even seen with one.
Over the last 6 weeks i've seen him/her turn into a proper blackbird, feeding by itself, watching the other birds to see how to wash in my bird bath, learn to fly and many other wonderful things.
All of which was a great relief to see, as now he is very alert to everything going on around him, where as when i first saw him, you could walk as close as you liked without any fear of it running away (which isn't good if a cat walks up to them).
Just 6 weeks on, my little Fred is looking good, im afraid i haven't any pictures of Fred more recently, he's not tame anymore, but i hope you enjoy hearing this little story, and maybe this time next year it will be showing its own little blackbirds all the things it learnt the hard way.
