I have installed a new bittorrent modification which we need to test out. If anyone has any experience with this stuff and would like to give it a try, feel free to post up a torrent (as a regular attachment) and let us know.

Ok, gonna put something up in a bit:thumb:
What the criteria? And can we post them anywhere?

Anything you feel like testing is fine, we'll come up with guidelines if it works. It should work in any forum. Thanks man :)

It should be but it's notorious for not working right so we'll call it Beta for now until we can confirm it ;)

Okay, here's a snip from their support forum.
Make sure the private flag is enabled when you create the .torrent
They also recommend using azureus as a client, which has the option to set a private flat. Here is a direct link to their forum for reference http://borget.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=13 (sepecifically, our version is VBTT 3.0 Beta 3.0.3 - vBulletin 3.6.x)
Sorry man, I should've known it wouldn't work right off the bat lol. We'll keep picking away at each issue one by one.

No worries:) I'm using Azereus, so I'm halfway there, lol. I'll read the thread and give it another shot:thumb:

I had Bittorrent installed a couple of years ago, it went too slow for me, but in this environment (within a forum) it is a PERFECT idea! Way cool feature, thanks a bunch!!

Well, it's still peer to peer which is based on user connections and not the site. The board will just secure them and track the status :)

Ok, here we go:)
Just a little something I put together. A small download to test the system:thumb:

I know man, I would be rich if I had a dollar for every hour I've ever spent on trying to get a torrent tracker to this board software I would be loaded :chucks:
I have posted it up for the developer though and he's a pretty helpful guy, I will let you guys know.

Thanx for your efforts Eric. It would be cool to have, but I'd hate to see you spending all your time on it for nothing.

It's cool, I think we're close on this one so we'll see what the developer has to say about it. :)

Testing... This will not work, it's only checking to see if it displays correctly.

10-19-2006, 07:21 AM
It's not showing all the files, etc. in the post it could be that it must be connected to the peer to do it though. PG, can you try again with another one when you get some time? Also (just a reminder) that the security flag has to be turned on. :)

Did I say porn ? I meant educational documentaries...

Ok, it may be working, lol. After uploading the torrent, the uploader has to download and open it to seed. Seems to be working:dunno:
ericgtr
10-19-2006, 12:14 PM
Yes, when it shows "seeding" that means the server is talking with it. Excellent man, now if we can get someone to download it that would rock. I can't do anything like that from work here.

Bummer, I would be all over this like a shot, but I can't do it from work, and I told my ISP to shove it up their arse, so can't do it from home where I actually have the software !

Problem connecting to tracker:dunno:
Maybe because we're on the same IP, never done this before. Guess we'll have to wait for someone else to try it.

That would be my guess, I actually thought that when I saw the post about this but thought it was worth a shot. Also, I don't think the little progress bar within the post will show activity, it's a bug that he is working on but it should still work.

Great little program i must recommend for downloading your Torrents is UTorrent
http://www.utorrent.com/
It is very small , uses nearly no resources , and is very fast . I'm using it at the moment for Films and Progs but I'm uncertain as to how i use it on Guitar Blast . Do we have to upload the data for others to download and keep our computers turned on ? , or can we provide Torrent links to other places .

Well, I don't have alot for boots, so here's something that will keep us out of trouble:) This used to be free til the bastards started charging for it. Here is the last free version!
Guitar Alchemist Pro
Easily find which chords to play over a given scale and vice-versa, visualize scale patterns both on the fingerboard and on the staff.
Great functionalities that make Guitar Alchemist much more than a simple chord dictionary.

There's now a link on the top right of the forumhome that says reset passkey.. try that. I'm not sure it will fix this but it's worth a shot.
ericgtr
10-31-2006, 11:50 AM
FYI.. I moved the "reset passkey" to the main torrent page here http://www.guitarblast.com/torrents.php? it looks funky but works. I think you may have to click that, then re-upload the torrent.

Just FYI.
I have my (wireless) broadband all set up and running now and have just spent today configuring my router and firewall to allow me to use azureus once again like I used to be able with my old router.
So if you need another guinea pig to test things out, just let me know !

Thanks but due to all the bugs I pulled it for now. If they come up with a more functional version I will try again, thanks for the offer. :)
