How often do you get those gross KFC covered strings off yur Axe? I try to restring at least every 2 weeks.
I clean my strings after every play - to get more life out of them.
My Fender never breaks strings - so I don't change them that often - maybe once a month or more.
I'm a big believer in keeping the guitar neck clean before and after playing.

Ive had this set on for about 3 weeks. They are sounding dull. I spray Tone Finger Ease on em before I play each time. I just got 2 packs the other day but didnt want to change strings in the middle of recording that Sabbath tune. One track would have sounded brighter and the other duller. I was liking the tone I was getting and didnt want to wreck it. I use Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom (52,42,30,17,13,10). Best strings I ever used.

I used finger ease way back years ago. I stopped using it because it started making them feel sticky. I don't put anything on them now. Since I change them at a drop of a hat sometimes, I use Webstrings Nashville .10s on all my electrics. They are cheap and very good. My acoustic gets bronze phospher 70/30 .11's.

I'm the same as WoodTick, I clean the neck after playing and wipe the individual strings clean, getting any muck off them. I also wash my hands before playing so as not to get needless dirty on the neck/strings. I don't change my strings very often at all, but then I probably don't play that often either, I only get to play for about 3-4 hours a week (if that!) most of the time so end up changing the strings once every two months or more sometimes, all depends on how often I play and if the strings start feeling icky.
Oh, and I play 10-46's...I played 9's for a little while as I kept buying and selling guitars so much, I ended up playing whatever was on them, until I got the axe I have now, which was 2nd hand, the strings that came on that felt and looked like they had been dipped in Sh#T...had to change them quick along with a fully setup and went for my usual 10's, Fairly light but still heavy enough for some good chunky power chords as well.never going back to anything else.

I change mine when they break lol, i do like the sound new strings bring but they never stay clean or shiney for long :dunno:
I use 38, 30, 21, 15, 10, 08 gauge strings, just have a lovely feeling for me personally:thumb:

I originally started with real heavy strings. Hell I was a kid and didn't know there was anything else. I guess I was 13 and changed to .09s. For a few months .08s then back until 2002. I was playing alot of hardcore blues and even broke a D string one time. I went to .11's and it was killing my hands. I was playing an average of an hour or more a day. I went to my current .10s and rarely break any now.

i change strings whenever i feel they are going to snap, then that is when i give my neck a good washdown. does anybody know how to keep a sanded neck clean, though?:dunno:

I use Dean Markley´s .011-.052, I change them every 4-6 weeks more or less, and not too long ago I started to use a dremel tool for cleaning the neck, with a small round soft brush, works great, and that way I don´t put any liquid stuff on it.

I do that too - wash my hands first. It's hard to slide up and down the guitar neck with sticky fingers!

I do the same bro. It helps make the strings last longer.

Yeah but would your girlfriend let you touch her with motor oil all over your hands?
Maybe if she's into that stuff eh? :)
