View Full Version : Classic Van Halen to Reunite?

Quasi-credible Web portal MelodicRock.com is reporting that Van Halen — the original version, complete with David Lee Roth on the mike — will be reuniting for a full tour of the States and “other territories” in 2007. While we were not aware that America is a territory, we are psyched to see the original incarnation of VH in any spot on earth. Of course, who knows for sure if this rumor is true?
The site sources someone “highly placed” in the band’s camp, and the author of the post writes: “While nothing in the world of Van Halen is set until the band walk out on stage, I can confirm that negotiations between all parties have been underway for some time, trying to put together a big 2007 reunion tour.” The writer goes on to claim that he knows for a fact there will not be a new Van Halen record to accompany this tour, which implies that the band will be playing lots of old-school, classic material if this actually happens and is not just another fantasy cooked up by incredibly stoned Roth-loyalists during one of their weekly gatherings in which they read aloud from Crazy From the Heat.

I have several city's where I must attend shows...
Syracuse and all surrounding areas...
LA (Lisa)
Chicago (Carrie)
Dallas (Chris)
Toronto (Phil)
Just tell me where you are, and I'm there!
If this happens....CARMINE is going on tour too.....lol!
Well they sure as hell would make a TON of money if they did tour with the original line up. But money aside, what a great show it will be. A must see. I hope it happens.

Van Halen on upcoming ballot for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007

Go ahead and jump -- for joy! -- Van Halen fans. The hard-rocking band has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, along with eight other acts.
This is the first nomination for Van Halen, although the group has been eligible for at least the past three years.
R.E.M. and the Ronettes are the other first-time nominees on the latest Rock Hall ballot, which also has Chic, the Dave Clark Five, Grandmaster Flash, Patti Smith, the Stooges and Joe Tex in the running again for enshrinement, according to a source familiar with the nomination proceedings.
Van Halen has sold more than 56 million albums in the United States alone, on the strength of such hits as "Why Can't This Be Love" and the chart- topping "Jump." The Los Angeles band released its self-titled debut in 1978. Hotshot guitarist Eddie Van Halen has been a mainstay, but the group has had a succession of lead singers, including David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone.

.
.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, based in New York, oversees the induction process. Artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first recording.
The foundation recently downsized its nominating committee, made up of music industry insiders and chaired by Bruce Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau.
"We've made the committee smaller to move things along quicker," said Joel Peresman, president and CEO of the foundation.
Ballots are set to be mailed in the next few days to an international pool of voters, including record company executives and previous inductees.
Plans for the 2007 induction ceremony have not been announced.

It would be interesting to see them with Roth one more time but, much like the '04 tour with Sam, it just reeks of a money-only thing. Which, as it turns out, I really don't care if it is or not if they can get along and put on a good show which didn't happen in '04.
I'm intrigued, but I'm not getting my hopes up that I'll be blown away by this tour if it does come to pass.

Ya know I'm sure they are thinking about the money. But maybe they still can put on a great show? I'd say they still could have that spark possibly. I'd pay the $80 to see 'em and find out.

In my opinion, it was the not getting together that brought out the best in them. Just look at Fair Warning and later Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More.

It's a shame that no new music will be recorded, cuz I would be praying that Dave pisses Eddie off a right treat which is then transferred into the music.
However, if Eddie can put that rage he has for Dave back into his playing on stage just like he did in the old days, it will be a belter !

I don´t know. I agree with the 'make a new record instead of touring' idea. Besides the music, VH shows were about energy, jumping back and forth, you know, not exactly what a bunch of fifty year old twats can handle nowadays:p . And from what I heard recently, Roth´s range of voice can handle say,one octave?? Lets face it, if they were some sort of stand still and perform band, maybe, but I´m sure 10 out of 10 shows will be dissapointing for most of the audience. But a record would be another thing, I´m sure about that.

There is a message there that says April 17th, 2007 may be something to think about. Could this be the opening date for the CVH tour?
Or at least....the "announcement date" that its happening?

Van Halen's New Bassist? Eddie's Boy Wonder!

Van Halen has finally found its new bassist -- and it looks like the rock gods are keeping the band a family affair.
TMZ is first to confirm that Van Halen has hired 15-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen -- the son of guitarist Eddie Van Halen and estranged wife Valerie Bertinelli, and nephew of drummer Alex Van Halen -- as the new bassist for the band.
Wolfgang replaces longtime bassist Michael Anthony, who left the band earlier this year. Eddie Van Halen's spokesperson Janie Liszewski tells TMZ that Wolfgang, known as "Wolfie," has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio for a 2007 summer tour. Wolfie played dates with his father during the band's 2004 tour, and the song "316" on 1991's "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge," was named for Wolfie's birth date that same year.
The band is still without a lead singer, despite rumors that David Lee Roth might rejoin.
