Been looking for one of these for an AGE. They just don't come up in the UK (or very rarely). I saw this one and fell in love with the faded purple colour (EBMM's have a history of fading is stored in sunlight). Only problem was it was in Boston!!!

At first the guy was reluctant to deal with me (eBay USA) but after a few discussions by e-mail, we came up with a crazy route to getting this guitar. The guy I bought it from posted it to 3Fingers in New Orleans and, just happens that one of my guitar students was gonna be in New Orleans last week! Carl meet Sergio...Sergio meet Carl...Bob's yer Uncle!

So today I finally got me mits on it after a wait of a month after buying the darn thing. It plays amazingly! At the moment it has 8 gauge strings on it (!) but I'll be getting it setup with hybrid slinky's asap and taking one of the trem springs out. The tone is phenomenal...these Di Marzio pups really do bite. It's a lot more agressive sounding than either of my Peavey's but the middle switch position has a nice nasally single coil quaility to it. The neck is liquid tho I think the frets could do with a dressing (don't understand why...this guitar is about 12 years old I reckon). Condition wise it's a 9.5...one chip on the binding and even still has the plastic on the back!!! Very limited small buckle rash. The colour fading I love! It's a one off (used to be a purpleburst I believe) and has a kind of 'tie-die' look about it. It's a sod to photograph as it comes out brown! It is in fact a purple-pinkish kinda colour.

Anyway, I'll post some better pics when I can BUT I wanna thank Sergio for being my mule for 4 weeks...this was beyond the call of duty to get a Brit an EVH...fine and expensive malt on it's way to you Sir. Cheers Sergio!!! :thumb:

One day, one day...

Good on yer mate. Would you really have to take the spring off when you go from 8s to hybrid slinkys ?

LMAO! I´ve pulled that trick many times in the past, LOL! Both ways, last time was in 98, imagine wrapping a couple chorizos (local sausages) within baby diappers! (USA Custom Office has never allowed bringing into the States any foreign food). Congrats man, and bring on some music, :)

Well, if it doesn't come up to scratch, remember I am only down the road and would gladly take her annoying stiffness off your hands !!!

:toothless:

Can't wait to get to play her sometime !

Thanks guys. I'm starting to think she's had a refret at some point as the frets need dressing badly; I can't believe it woulda come out of the factory with all the jagged edges...didn't notice at first but now it seems to be the case. :thumb:

S'pose the running blood might have given you a clue ... or is that how it got it's curious indescribable colour? Maybe it extracts some form of tribute for allowing it's 'owners' to play it.
