oh man. You know, plenty guys can shred clean and all. but the fire and the passion Guthrie throws into his playing is just astonishing. The guy is just right on the mark pretty much every time. Simply breathtaking to watch this guy play. Great Great player... how did you get these vids posted on their own into the thread btw ? lol.

Awesome stuff i love his playing definately ! , that second tune is spain ! i've played that on many gigs and it's a blast , it's so great to hear a master burn through that song ! he nails all those changes at a blinding speed , real intelligence behind some of those lines . He quotes fur elise in there too very briefly which is very very cool

I find it interesting just how many shredders don't use their pinky finger really at all ! not a bash or anything i just always found it strange as you'd think that it would make things a whole lot easier for them ! but still he seems to get by ok ! :lol:

you said it Eric. The guys is flawless. Stunning playing yet again. I could watch him all day. Hes so unpredictable.

My fave player in the world ever!! Apparently he wasn't happy with his playing in those first 2 vids so never made it onto the DVD that's being put together.

After watching again I see exactly what you mean, he barely uses his pinky but when he does, he does it with style lol. He also does some really kick ass chromatic runs with just three fingers, I think what makes it so cool is the fact that he picks so flawlessly.

That was really inspirational, lots of cool stuff going on! Not just tech wise, but lots of original and great ideas and fun little licks.

Ever since i noticed it the first time , i notice it with every player that i see , i myself am a pretty bad culprit too and i didn't even realise ! lol but as so many people demonstrate you can get by without using it , when guthrie does use it , it flicks back and forth so quick you barely see it ! haha

It makes your playing look a bit more human as well i think , Where i noticed it originally was on the vai astoria dvd , you watch how vai looks when he plays compared to tony mcalpine , tony uses all 4 fingers and it just looks like a machine ! it's crazy .

who knows if it's really better or not , i just found it incredibly interesting !
