I have just been given a copy of this to try out (my lazy arse friend is supposed to review it.)

The weird thing is - it is actually very good. It allows you to use loops and midi, which in short means it is very nearly the perfect application for learning to make backing tracks by jigsawing loops together but also has the capability to playback midi via drum samples too.

It sounds bloody good actually. It has a number of decent session musician samples Matt Sorum, Sly Dunbar, Zoro, Jeff Anthony, Tony Braunagel, Ned Douglas and Michael Shrieve. The loops are perfection (but obviously cant be edited) but the surprising thing is the standard of the Midi to sample support. Velocity layers are incorporated and although they lack the finesse of, say, battery or DFH or BFD they are effective and work well.

The only downside is they only work via rewire rather than VST or DXi - this is not a real problem but it takes a little getting used to. It appears to have many channels but so far my FX treatments seem to be applied across the whole kit. but the kits are treated anyway and have a good soundstage presence.

In all it is a decent bit of software and well worth investigating. And just to prove I am not on the payroll - I saw it on the newsgroups a few days ago :)

Cool, I just got this last week. Haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'm very happy using EZDrummer with the addons, but would love to have Matt Sorum as my own personal drummer:D I know nothing about rewiring so it may be a bit of a learning experience for me.
