Sorry to be out of the loop for so long. Here is a new one I just wrote this week. Its rough but actually may work better that way.
Sounds like a drop-D tuning ... ?? The droning bass string and unplugged style is very reminscent of Nick Drake. Great lyrics!! Tells a real story and conveys a very strong emotional connection with the listener. I think this stands on its own very well; anything else would be icing on the cake. Excellent song Matt!!

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll take a Nick Drake comparison anyday. And yes it is drop D tuning. I think the sinus infection I had while recording may have lended to a more folk sound on the lyrics...although I am out of tune a few times :)
Way to go, Matt. It's really great to see you get back in the game of recording. Now, if I could only follow suit. Your "acoustic folk meets Michael Hedges" style is unique around here and a welcome balance to the mix of great musicians on this site. I really like the bassline melody in this tune. I think that's what pulls the listener in and hold the attention, where-as the higher end string kind of color it up a bit. But that bassline is really cool. Your original tunes are always interesting and creative. Keep this up, and you'll have your year-end CD full of home recordings just in time for the Christmas season. :)
Oh, I almost forgot...great utilization of a sinus infection!

Thanks Naifuzan and yzerman for checking this out....if you got recent post I will be looking for them. And of course the ever so kind Rain....always good to hear from you :)

Sweet song mate. Lovely vocal tone and acoustic guitars. This would be a good song for listening in the car while passing country miles as the sun's setting. Thanks for posting

gutted I missed this when it was posted and apologies on being late with my reply. This is very, very impressive. Rough? I don't think so mate. This is definately worth 5 stars. The fact I am currently in awe of Ray LaMontagne (I mean seriously!!) this fits the vibe and introspective feel of his best stuff.
Superb work - 5 stars and a nomination from me.

Thanks for the support guys. I have recently found my way to some of Ray LaMontagne's stuff as well...I am really digging it. Also been listening to a Scottish guy by the name of Alexi Murdoch. He is very Nick Drake like on a few of his songs...very cool.
