Hi everyone, I've been thinking of purchasing an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Vintage Sunburst. Does anyone have one here and what do ya think of them?
Do they stay in tune, look good, sound good, etc....
I'm a strat player from way back so a Les Paul Standard would be a change for me. I have a Epi 56 gold top LP,..but it has P90s in it. It's a really nice guitar and I enjoy playing it but I know the standard is different. My 56 epi was one of the first put out because it has the vintage tuners and the guitar goes out of tune from time to time. They have replaced the vintage looking tuners on their new epi 56 gold tops with Schaller or grovers. I just don't want to spend 500 on the standard LP guitar that will sit under my bed!!

Thanks for any input on this!!

My advice is ditch the Epi and buy a Tokai instead! There are some great bargains on ebay, for what IMO, beat the crap out of Epis on build quality, looks and sound.

Yeah, that's my Love Rock, based on a LP standard. I've no idea what exact model/year it imitates though. Bought it new on ebay about 6 months ago for 220 GBP (abt $400).

absolutely LOVE it ... feels right ... sounds right ... LOOKS right. It's got the "open book" top to the headstock too and in a certain light, the "Love Rock" legend 'almost' appears to read "Les Paul".

They're blatant re-creations of the classics (too good to be called 'copies').
