View Full Version : Acoustic Tune
Here's a tune I do sometimes to warm up on acoustic guitar. It's based on the song "Long Cool Woman". Just basically that foundation but with a lot of variation on my part.
The guitar is my trust Fender F-210 and reverb added with Cool Edit Pro.

Nice sounding tune! You should do an acoustic cover of long cool woman with that sound, that'd be really cool!
Also, warming up is cheating! :toothless:

Beautiful, man, I loved this. Anger, doubts, pride, downer, it was all there, even if it was probably projected from myself. I think you overdone the reverb a bit, but the message sure came dude. You play the acoustic in an awesome way you mofo. Enough said.

Yeah - I thought maybe I laid on the reverb a little too thick this time. Is it too distracting? Is it too gawdy? Do you think the song is good enough quality even with the thick reverb?
Thanks for the listen BTW. .

Cheating? How so? I play this tune to warm up - then tackle other stuff is what I meant.
I don't like to do cover songs - because to me they are sort of a waste of time to do. I primarily make songs to upload to Music Supervisor - where they sell my music. Cover tunes are a no-no because of the copyright stuff.
BTW - I'd like to file a complaint with the management!
How come when you post a Cover Tune you get the thread posted on the front page - but if you post an Original Tune, you get no such plug?
To me thats just wrong, cover tunes to me are fine - but they are just that - a copy of something. I personally think Original songs are of MUCH more value.

This was way cool, sounds like a lot of open strings chords... Reverb is fine to mine ears. This kinda tune needs some atmosphere...so the reverb fits.
I think some haunting lyrics would compliment this nicely...havent heard the "woman" tune its based on before.
Man the reverb fits the mood completly to me!
Love it...then again I just love good acoustic stuff in general, and this is one of the really enjoyable ones!
Loved that theme and the mood, something to sit by and think over life I guess??
Made my world stand still for few minutes!
Thanks!

Excellent track mate, i just love the sound of an Acoustic (with or without reverb) in the same way i love to hear a Grand Piano played, there is just something so pure about them both, as Tony mentioned to me the other day, playing an Acoustic is all skill, no long delays or anything to hide your ability (or lack of any in my case lol).
So what can i say other then Perfect, i could listen to it all day, just beautiful & passionate, well deserving 5 stars :thumb:

Thank you Jimmer!
Yes there are a lot of open strings being plucked. Mostly the high E and B strings.
It's based on the intro to Long Cool Woman by the Hollies. .
I'm not really into writing lyrics - because I don't think I'm that good at it really.

Thanks Rid!
If it made your world stand still for a few minutes - and made you feel good - thats all I could ever hope to do!

Thanks a lot Avalon - that was mighty nice of you to say.
I feel the same way about playing the acoustic - you can't hide behind effects, and distortion ect. It's way more of an open face type thing - where you either have the skill, or you don't. And it's patently obvious if you don't when you play acoustic.
Thanks again!

No worries bro - I'm glad you liked it. Your opinion means a lot to me.
But to be honest, I'm starting to run out of ideas on that old steel string!
