View Full Version : A little Night Ranger

Not sure if you guys will remember this one but it's a ballad that Night Ranger did called Goodbye. I consider this one of my better accomplishments because of all the tracks and there are a tone of them in this song lol. All parts, keys, drums and guitar were done manually. Of course my drums are a little out of sync like always when I do them manually :p
Hell yeah, this is definitely a great sounding recording and I can hear that there is quite a bit of instrumentation going on. I would agree that the only possible weak link, as you admitted yourself, is the drums (they are a slight bit out of consistent timing and a bit "MIDI" sounding, but not enough to take away from the overall sound). Otherwise this is pretty slick production and sounds like it would be a bitch to mix. But you did a good job with it. The main guitar part sounds like a hybrid between the GooGoo Dolls ballad "Name" (or whatever it's called) and that Alice in Chains ballad from there Jar of Flies album with the intense vocal harmonies...can't remember the name of the song, but ironically I was listening to that CD on the way to work this morning. I have to say that you are a pretty darned smooth lead player, as I am finding out more and more. I've never really liked Night Ranger that much, but had you not told me this was written by them, I would have not guessed it. You should probably throw some of your own vocals on this and repost. :D

Thanks man, trust me though you do not want to hear me sing unless you like the sound of a dog stuck in a barb wire fence. It's a limitation that I have and am well aware of it, that's what makes me stand apart from other terrible vocalists, you will never hear mine. :D

Damn dude! :yourock: That was fantastic!!!!! You sir are a much better guitarist than me. Very cleanly and accurately played man and how the heck did you get the exact tones for it? What guitar and pickups/effects did you use????
I own Night Ranger's greatest hits CD and thats all you need to have. That CD rocks and KC, you should buy it!! It kicks ass.

Thanks man, actually that was a Yngwie tone that I picked up from POD's tone site and it's really hot so you have to turn down every split second you aren't playing or it will feedback like all hell broke loose lol. But it's a great, singing tone when controlled. I used my EBMM Axis on the bridge pickup, really though it's that tone that makes it sound so singing or like it's on the neck pickup.

Very solid and complete. You owe it to yourself to get sonar or cubase though for recording the drums ... but then you knew that anyway :)
Fantastic version eric.

I have never heard this song before, cool tune! Guitars sounded great, I believe there are two sinc, way cool harmony stuff,:woot: With the drums I suppose they are made from loops, they sound fine, but it seems like one of them "lasts a bit longer" and it brakes the rhythem, but who cares, itīs all for fun!

there are only two songs that froze me in my tracks the first time i heard them. when mickey thomas from jefferson starship sang "jane" i litterly could not move untill the song was over. the second was "dont tell me you love me". i have been a nightranger fan ever since. you did a fantastic job on this. find a singer and finish this. if you can't find one i would be willing to help you out.
