Not posted much of the recorded variety here as im still waiting on a couple of originals to see completion. So I just futzed about with the digital camera for 5 minutes yesterday. The sound quality got a little gainy when I transferred this to windows movie maker to save it. But it's not too bad I hope lol. Anyhoo... hopefully this will fill in 3 minutes of boredom any of you might come accross.

Nice fluid legato playing there mate.
Cool little goatee too (least I THINK I saw what looked like one near the end).
Shame about the fizzy sound like you say ... but what the hell ... we get the gist ok!

HAHA, yeah theres a goatee there, the whole Jack Sparrow extravaganza on the go. Goatee & Moustache etc etc. Anyhoo...
Legato, for sure mate. I plan on being able to legato all my old picking licks ASAP. Much more economic and it sounds great. It suddenly hit me one night that all the shredding was alot of hard work for no real personal reward. And so I turned the gain down to about 2/99 on the RP (using an overdrive pedal to boost signal, I used to have gain on 10/99) to get a smoother tone to look for a more bluesy shred type sound... and it seems to be working at this end I guess.
I wanna throw every trick I have into videos but I always miss out so much stuff lol :(. And man, I don't even have that many tricks.

Some sweet runs dude , smooth as . I like the way you dont play too fast ! , no disrepect , but i like it when notes have air to breathe , bit like when Vinnie Moore plays ; he also leaves definitive gaps between notes .
Youre becoming better every minute dude :yourock:

Thanks my Smoggy chums :) lol, you guys rock :p.
Im certainly feeling like leaving more gaps in the playing Art that's for sure. I just started getting so tired of seeing/hearing all those moronic robotic types on youtube and in music playing realy fast and not making any musical sense.
It becomes some sort of twisted competition and it's very tiring. Obviously im not saying that playing slow is better than playing some tasty speedy licks. Better would be nicer vibrato, more interesting note choices etc etc. No matter wether you do it fast or slow the essentials are the same. And THOSE are the things im trying to work on.
Funnily, when shred was born it was more about a real flow and elegance of sound, guys like Uli and Blackmore and Yngwie (of course) kind of refined it. Using it in a certain, almost violin style way to add lovely flow to the playing. It really became fast for the sake of going fast after the Big Bang that was Malmstick, with so many guys trying to jump onboard the bandwagon of his success. But they all failed to do it as well as him. And that just dragged the word "shred" through the gutter, it's pretty much been there ever since. Thank god guys like Vai understood the fine balance between technique and soul/passion. As well as a healthy dollop of compositional prowess.
Wow... got that off my chest haha. Rant over :).
