this is old. 2004. just a bit of fun. I posted it as part of the uk guitar music compilation and it got to #1 on the mp3.com charts for 2 weeks. It was all recorded on a crappy soundblaster card and the tone is pure excrement. Still a decent tune though.

Sounds like a movie soundtrack.

Or a Satraini type melody.

I think I remember hearing this a long time ago. .

The guitar work is great on this man - with different lines inter mixing.

Dood - you can really fly on the leads when you WANT to!

Nice airy kinda tune... First part of the song reminded me of frozen ghost then half way through it remind me of David Gilmour solo material. Maybe it's the tone of the guitar?... Made me think of mihalis. I really enjoyed this. Some very nice playing goport. Like PJ mentioned, you can really fly when you want too!

Indeed it is a decent tune  to say the least, very nice man, the fuzz tone is very synth-ish at times, I suppose that's a function of that Roland unit - it is killer to hear you stretch out a bit on lead on stuff like this but your penchant for melody still pokes its head out here a lot.

thanks for all the replies. This was an old tune and done way before I started writing songs. I don't really play like this anymore, simply because it doesn't appeal in the same way it used to. But I do like this memento :)

It does sound a little synth like and it is because it s the Roland VG 88. I used a polyphonic octave shift and used a polyphonic distortion. There are a couple of virtual 12 strings and a sitar in there too. In fact there are probably too many guitars in the tune but it just kept growing. At 2:11 in the background there are 8 backing guitars and towards the end there are something like 16 lol.

The start reminded me of a Satch tune I have on a dvd from one of those G3 stuff. I liked it. On a side note, :D,

thanks again sergio and rain. I only have one more which never really got finished. I had about 20 but lost them on a harddrive crash in 2003 :( I will post the other one sometime though.

Cheers all.

This is cool Goport....very complex and the guitar playing is superb...you got some fast fingers when you need them. Very nice.

I remember this one , sting like lead tone , reminicent of early Hackett . Catchy tune that builds and builds , i like the bit at 1.34 , sounds very grandiose in parts .

A bigger stereo image would off kicked serious ass !! .

Cool playing Lawrence indeed . :yourock:

Wow, this is chock full of Satriani influence, in both style, melody and bassline. It has a "Flying in a Blue Dream" kind of vibe to it. All those guitars in the second half made me dizzy. ;) Like others who have responded here, I would love to hear more stuff like this from you. Not sure why this style is not appealing to you anymore. :dunno: I think it is great. Very dreamy yet with a technical edge in leadwork/harmonies.

This was sort of my zenith as a guitarist I guess. I took my instrumental ideas as far as I thought they would go. I prefer songs and more importantly words. I like the intimacy words create and love the story telling aspect. I will always love guitar (even if bass is my current instrument of choice ) and I may yet come back to instrumentals but for the time being I am in the Bass zone and hungry to learn all the tricks. Then I will throw myself back into songwriting with a vengeance. If the songs do not come then Instrumentals may well be the way ahead for me :)

Thank you also to everyone else that has listened and replied - I really do appreciate you feedback.

Very cool song!
I really like the Satriani-ish feel about it.
It would be nice to hear it with a "real" guitar sound and not that synthetic sound. Not that it's that bad, but all the time all I can think of is that I'd like a more guitar like sound!
Great playing btw!!!
