If there's anybody who doesn't have the means to doctor up a midi of a tune they'd like to take a crack at, send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to see what I can do.
Basically you will need to find the midi on the web and verify that the time and measures are correct to the song and we can take it from there.

Hey thats cool! Thanks a bunch man. I have a good time myself playing with midis and changing soundfonts. I use Drums by Slavo (thanks to Stg), NSkit7free (thanks to PodGod) for drums, and a340 or Jazz-BAzz (Stg again) for bass. Done over Synthfont. What do you use for them?

those are 3 that I don't have. They are standard soundfonts? Depending on what I'm working on I've got about a dozen soundfonts for drums that I'll use depending on the song. Bass, I have probably some more than that, then I use some of the patches from Fruity loop too.

They are free at HammerSound.com .Slavos sound good, a bit trebly, NSkit are a bit dry but very good. The only thing I donīt like about both is the cimbals, but I guess thats a tough one to achieve with midi, :(

I actually will mix and match a lot of times. I have gone down to each individual piece on occassion using a kick from one, toms from another etc... It's not always the way to go, cause the reverbs are different, but I usually can get a good match using the effects i have so it all sounds like the same kit. I got the majority of what i have from hammer sound too. I end up having to tweak a lot of what I have with Fruity Loop.

Yeah I have mixed-blended the two drum soundfonts in a single track, like in the "Stroll on" BT I posted. Hey, it would be neat to convert both separately a midi track and share the results! Iīd love to learn more, as I only have used what I told before. Are you up for it? Say, lets doctor whatever the same midi track, and compare the results.

I'll give it a whirl. What genre/period of music where you thinking? I think that'll have some bearing on the results. Should probably be something we both have decent exposure to or maybe not (could be interesting too). I'd say anything grunge to today would be where more of my listening tastes are, then classic rock/hard rock 60's 70's, oldies/vintage 50's, alternative 80's could be cool and 80's metal would probably come in last. I think something with more tracks than less would make it cool. Also something we could make available to folks here when done would be good. Cool idea.
