I absolutely love mine. Basically, it's a scaled down POD XT. Whether you need one or not would depend on what your using now. If you already have a POD XT, don't bother, cause there's nothing to gain. But, if you want a POD XT minus a few features and cheaper... GuitarPort is the way to go:thumb:

well I do not have a Pod XT so this may be a great addition to my toy box:woot:
I love the idea of using Customtone online to get new patches etc
thx Pod God for feedback,

another one you might want to check out is the line6 toneport. i have one and love it. it also has presets and an xlr jack for doing vocals which is the main reason i bought it as i needed a better vocal preamp. it also has patches for guitar and there is a lot of patches that you can purchase but it has more than i will ever need. cost was $129

i have the podxt mark, love it m8..plug me cans into it so i dont get on no ones tits in the house..usb into yer pute for recording gives you nil latency :D
i would imagine you could dial any sound/tone you wanted given the sheer amount of permutations [amps, cabs etc ]
plus theres 1000's of patches online.
all i want now is for line6 to get off their arse and give x64 bit support, the ill be able to upgrade.
regards,
jim.
Just out of curiosity, how do these Guitarports and Toneports stack up compared to a V-Amp2?? Was thinking at least one of you guys had one of those too.

yes i have both. they each have their place. i got the toneport for a vocal preamp mostly and you of course have to be hooked up to a computer so it is good only for recording for me. i still prefer the v-amp2 for guitar when using high gain sounding rhythms and leads but the pod stuff has a better clean and undistorted sound. i used a pod xt from a friend for a week and in my opinion and my own use nothing beats a v-amp2. i suggested a toneport to mark only if he wanted to use it as a vocal preamp too and it works great for that. the guitar sounds are great but i still prefer my v-amp2 for guitars.

thx for all the solid feedback guys, I will check these out some more. I like the idea of the vocal preamp settings on the UX1.:thumb:

Well as you know i use to use the V-amp2 Mark, i have a Podxt now, in honesty ive never gone back to the v-amp since ive got the Pod, i did have a try of it the other day but to me the diffrence in quality is fair amount, however i have improved alot since i last used it, but still i love the podxt.
Obviously the podxt does hold a diffrent price range though, i have heard good things about the guitarport xt, basically a scaled down and less fancy podxt.
I can't speak for the guitarport but if its half as good as the podxt , well its a fantastic buy imo m8:woot: :D

Sweet! Make sure you go to www.line6.com and register your new toy:) That way you can get the Line 6 Monkey software and any updates you might need. Also, check out www.customtone.com for presets.

Here's my favourite one. Its the "Van Hagar" tone, good for any VH covers from 5150 onwards....
Try it for size.
Enjoy!

I have already made a few patches. Should I post here or should I start a Sticky for them?

I havent searched to see if we have a thread for Guitarport/Pod tones.
If we havent got one I think it would be a good idea to start and sticky one...but lets have one that doesnt have forum members chatting in it. Lets use the "Thanks" button and keep the thread chock full o' tone!

I have a Toneport UX2 and a V-Amp2. Both work great and I prefer the Toneport due to ease of interaction with the computer. The tones you can get are pretty much whatever you can think of. I normally only use the V-Amp to play through and amp now days.

Do any of you have a "Stealthplug" to hook your guitar to your computer?? I do have a Guitarport and it is sweet.

I am using my GuitarPort XT to record on a G4 iBook with ~700MB of RAM.I am recording in Gargaeband, guitarport connected in thru' USB. I am finding it this setup slow my computer down and it crashes fequently. Would I have more success if I get a Toneport UX 1 instead?
Does anyone else have trouble with Guitarport XT and recording?. It is a shame as I have recorded some fantastic tones when it all decides to work.
Also my mac has Logic Express and I have heard it is much less glitchy than Garageband so I intend to try recording the Guitarport XT using Logic Express.
I love the tones in this Guitarport XT and wanna maximize it's potential. I have tried using this with Audacitiy on the mac and i get nowhere.
thx mark :(
Solution _ I now use Logic Express for recording and seems much better than garageband ...
