Well hopefully I don't ruin this tune for anyone. I definitely feel like I'm taking a risk trying to cover Michael. He definitely has one of those signature voices that I know I couldn't even get close to replicating. So I took a lot of liberties with the vocals, but did try to keep the music close. This song has a personal meaning right now and I felt very compelled to give it a go. So again, hope I don't detract from any feelings you might have already had for it.

This is a midi I doctored in FruityLoops and attempted vox on.

Good work on this Wig , i think you gave the song your own personal touch and you can tell that you really love the song aswell, also great work converting the midi to m8

I was actually just thinking when I saw this one that it's quite a task singing this song. But I think your voice worked really good with it, and you did a great job except some pitch problems here and there.
But the important thing is there was lots of emotion in your vocals!
Backing sounded great too, so great job! :thumb:

Hey you guys are all very kind. But Per is right... there are a lot of pitch issues. That's what I get for trying to do the vocal tracking in the late hours... my voice is probably at it's weakest and I have a bad habit of thinking things sound much more passable when I'm nodding off at 3am. I threw it on this morning and cringed. Note to self... sleep on it a night, if you still like it in the morning... go ahead and post away, LOL. I appreciate you guys listening and the nice feedback. But I think while the girls are out of town for the day, I'm going to give it another try. Now where's the little emoticon of the guy blushing in embarassment and that outtakes thread? LOL

Sorry folks, I didn't mean to sound like an ass here... aside from posting it here, this was something special I was trying to put together for my wife. I'm really happy with it, don't get me wrong. But I do think I could nail it home a bit tighter with a fresh pass and will probably try to for her copy. On top of things, as some already know... I'm definitely my worst critic... LOL. Thanks for checking it out.

I am going to be a bit brutal here :)

The Key is the real issue. you have dropped the vocal line by an octave and you sound like it is almost too low. you have to get your natural register worked out and transpose the backer to that. You treated the song with real passion and respect and if you change the key up 5 semitones to G it would push a little more air through your pipes without pushing you to Stipes register.

That said - this is empassioned and honest. Those are things that are sometimes far more important than a pitch perfect reading. You are doing good work!

Like GP said, this is an honest recording and that means a lot to the whole spirit. Im not a singer either but i know how hard it is for us to try and do this kind of work.

You did a good job and i enjoyed this song man :)

you guy's are awesome ... I really appreciate the advice Porty, trying that now. No brutality at all. I have thick skin and the suggestions, for me, is what it's really all about. In fact I thought about PM'ing you for some thoughts on this. So thank you sir, your honesty... Per giving his complete response is always going to be taken well here. And GT... thanks so much for the reply, really appreciate it.

This was great. I agree that it would sound even better up in pitch a tad and I look forward to hearing the retake, so please post it, but this stands up pretty good as it is, nice work Wig.

Thanks guys, but I'm going to give this one another try when the time becomes available. Try to put Porty's suggestions into the mix, etc... Thanks all!!!
