Based on scene8-The Spirit Carries On from Scenes from a memory LP.
I did a while back but intend to post in order to number of the track.
Sunny:acoustic guitar & power chords.
Solitude:Vocal, wah guitar, lead guitar, backing tract & mix down. The backing tract was made from MIDI,adjusted tempo to the original song.
I also re-edited the original choir sessions from multiple fragments of their rehersal from the bootleg 'The making of SFAM' & added some artificial choir I made. This is one of the most favorite DT songs & affected to me in many levels.Really hope you like it!!

Bloody hell! I'll sort you out with this one mate. The best headphone album since 'The Wall'...you know what I mean, stick some headphones on, lock everybody out and take the concept and lyrics in. THIS album has it in droves...as does this version of 'Spirit Carries On'. When the vocals start, you can BET your heart that Dream Theater completely ripped off one of the tracks from 'The Wall'! BUT, that aside, this is one of the standout tracks from a standout album...and you guys did it some real justice. It starts to get 'difficult' mix-wise at 2:13 but mellows a little bit for the splendid solo. There seems to be some underlying bass notes that sound a bit harsh but I can forgive that if it was a midi backer. The choir idea is VERY C.O.O.L and works great.

All in all, a great cover of a very difficult track. Great work guys. :woot:

Exellent song choice and a terrific job guy. The electric dist guitar tone is magnificent. It seems like you had a hard time on the solo but it sounded good. The drums are really good too.
And Solitude, as always, you did a great job on the vocal performance.:yourock:

excellent work, one of the few DT songs I've heard (saw the dvd) this tune could have come off a Floyd album easily - you did a superb job - this has a huge huge sound :thumb:

I have the DVD of the Scenes from a Memory live in New York, but barely watch it. I think I just mustn't be hugely into Dream Theater. But I can appreciate how talented and clever they are, and so to hear you guys consistantly pumping out high quality covers of those tracks... well... let's just say it's hugely impressive. Sounds great dude, righteous stuff.

I personally think that this DT album is the best of the lot so far (I have shyied away from their last few albums), the new one sounds alot like 6DOIT.
Anyways, This is a great cover, the vox have all that labrie expression and the whole thing was put together really well. Hats of to anyone that does a decent DT cover, as DT are expecption musicians, everyone of'em. Great work guys.:yourock:

Dream theater , a band i don't know whether i like or not . :headscratch: , but i have a DVD of them so i guess i do dig something . The guitarist is very hot that i do know . As for this track well its a monster , sung with confidence and clarity . I love the tone on the solo , and also your Piano tones are kick ass .

Was that EZY Drummer on percussion ? im hearing that snare quite a lot lately , drums sound really good .

Yeah a great all round performance dude . Gets my 5 :yourock:

Let me tell u art.I dont like their DVD that much. Most of u guys who're not their fan usually said'I've their DVD but.....'so let try their studio released LPs instead esp.Images & Words amd SFAM...those are far better than the DVD.Then u will find out whether u like it or not.
BTW thx very much for stopping by & leaving comment.
The drums I used for this song is not EZdrummer but Reason drum kit refill 2.0 by Propellerhead.:)
