This is my first collab with Dallas and also my GBlast vocal debut. I caught wind that Dallas was gonna lay some 6-string tracks down on this BT and I begged him to let me do the vocals. :D He kindly obliged, despite never hearing me sing before. This was loads of fun. Dallas dialed up a sweet Robbie Krieger-esque late 60s-sounding tone and strummed up a Doors time machine. The little licks and quick guitar phrases peppered throughout are really nice. WTG, Dallas! Thanks for letting me sit in with you, John and Ray! So what's up next?....Light My Fire???? :woot:

Very cool guys!:thumb: Jeff I was pleasantly suprised to hear you sing because I expected you to sound like Geddy Lee and you were the total opposite! :D :thumb:Thanks, Janelle, you're a sweetheart. I actually sound pretty much just like Geddy Lee, but I was able to "Photoshop" some Jim Morrison vocals over my Geddy vocals. :)

Bro You did an awesome job on the vocals! They just made the rest easy for me. Thank you very much for letting me do some guitar stuff bro! It was an honor jamming with you bro! The tune rocks! Thanks big D for giving me a shot without any evidence of singing ability. Let me know if you ever go into banking. I will come to you for all of my future loans! :D

Speaking of banking...don't short-change yourself on the accolades. I sent all these monkeys $5 via paypal to say something nice about the singing, since it was my first recording. All your little guitar licks throughout would make Robbie proud! :)

Cool guys. Sweet tone and playing Dallas. Jeff, that was great man. You'd never guess this was your first vocal post. Sounded great and I don't sense any nervousness at all. You should do more:thumb: Big 5!Well, Charles, I am very much an in-the-closet standup comedian, and I have a decent repetoire of impersonation that I can do. I have never found my "own" voice, but can imitate other people singing. This is one of about 5 tunes that I tend to always do at Karaoke night ("Light My Fire" is another one. The other three are Love Shack, Sexual Healing and Just a Gigolo by DLR!). ANyway, i could never sing in a band, but have a bit of experience impersonating other people, so this was not a huge stretch for me. :)

Looks like yur getting a fan club Jeff!!Nah, not really. See Dallas, the secret is to only post like 2 songs a year, and then people REALLY start to pay attention.

big 5ers*****Thanks, Rain. I had a lot of glasses of what you are holding in your avatar, while laying down my tracks. I'm sure you can attest that helps quite a bit to "loosen" up the vocal chords....0k, maybe just the nerves. :D Actually, you should drink some of that and THEN have a listen. It will sound even better! :tard:

Hell, I handed off my tracks to Dallas and he came back with finished product in like an hour or something crazy like that. He obviously knew the song! :thumb:

LOL! Never played it in my life! Just did some woodshedding... I couldn't find accurate chords. Had to figure it all out on my own. That one chord exchange that happened twice in the tune gave me nightmares and nailed them both times. I was a happy camper.

That's where it got interesting. I asked Jeff to do the vocals first so I could mimic and keep timing with him. I guess it paid off.

Well well well - KC, you certainly got into character for this. I was expecting a more low key debut to be honest, slightly less self assured. But NOOO. This most definately rocked. You are out of the closet now though - no excuse not to do more vocals :)

Dallas - You did a fine job playing the ever sympathetic side kick Robbie to KC's Jim Morrison. Very natural and flowing with a sweet clean sound. Cool riffs too.

Very impressive guys!!!

Ahh good to see the bts im sticking out are going to great use:D , excellent cover fellas, must admit i was intrigued to hear you on vocals Jeff, i think for your debut vocal peformance you put on a fine show m8, captured the feel of the original greatly, will look forward to hearing more out of you in the future, lets not forget D's excellent clean guitar playing , also fitted the bill lovely on this and made the whole song feel that touch more alive:rock:

Great recording guys. Guitars sounded awesome! Great job with the vocals too Jeff! I have been telling Jeff for years to lay down some vocals. It's true he has some great impersonations that will have you rolling for their comedic value ....but there are some quality vocals in there also when he chooses to let them out....perhaps now he will let them out more often :)

Outstanding guys... Really terrific in all regards. Dallas that's it... I got your number now as a guy with the goods for pulling off Robbie, like the man himself. I've been plotting my own stab at one. Sounded amazing bro... KCAR... It's just so cool to have ya posting always enjoy your material... still remember a "Boogie in D" tune that you did and really enjoyed in originals. To hear ya belting out some JM is a REAL treat. Keep em coming... cause this was just fabulous.

Thanks everyone for your kind words!! Jeff was so into this song that I just had to make sure it was right. Thanks again Jeff! Awesome job!And "right " you made it. This was such a blast. I was having trouble with my speakers earlier and had to launch an MP3 to test that they were both working properly. The only MP3 on my desktop was a mix I had rendered with just the vocals and the backer, and it was so hollow without the guitars. It made me realize how good the guitar parts filled out the backer. I'd do another tune with you in a heartbeat, Dallas. Just say the word, amigo!:thumb:

Ender: Thanks, Eric, for having a listen. Your posts are always an inspiration!

Propane: Thanks for the nom. Not sure what “Changeling” is. I better look into that one.

SteveG: Thanks, Steve. Still haven’t received your PayPal account info for payment yet. :o)

Goport: You’re a good man, Porty. Plenty more vocals posts to come in the near future, I promise. I’ve caught the bug that is for sure! I’ll keep you posted on the next one. Also, I appreciate the Nom!

Bahamut: Yeah, Man, thanks for the BT. It worked real good. You are quite the generous one with the resources. I appreciate it, friend!

A Koo Stick: Thanks for the nice comments, Matty. You are the master vocalist, so I appreciate your kudos. I gotta couple of songs on the docket that I will need your assistance with. I’ll let you know when I’m ready!

MATTm. eMinEM: Thanks for the comment. I have been honing my Jim Morrison for a number of years.

Wigrocks: Thanks for your encouragement to continue posting. I recently just purchased a new FireWire 8-input (8 separate tracks at one time) device to digitize all my old old 4-track cassette tapes, so you will pro’lly hear more from me here in the near future. I am honored that you remember my “Rockin’ Boogie D” tune.

Supercharged: Thanks, Matt. I’ve caught the singing bug! More to come, I promise!

Naifuzan: Thanks for checking it out, Per! You’re a good budding vocalist yourself lately!

GT777: Glad we did justice for one of your fave bands. You did a fine Doors cover yourself (“People Are Strange”). We should team up for one in the future. They have loads of good songs to cover!

Eamon7: Currently working on a Tenacious D cover as we speak (from the Explicit album). I promise not to disappoint!

JPF: Thanks for not saying I sound like “Neil Diamond on NyQuil.” (Is that what you were going to say??? :headscratch: ) I think Tom Jones would sound great with the Doors! ;o):p

3Fingers: David Byrne, huh? Well, same as it ever was. :p I have actually put some thought into covering "Burning Down the House" which I've collected a great MIDI for. Actually I do a mean Fred Schneiders from The B-52s! Fire up a “Love Shack” BT and I’ll show ya!!! ;o)

Well, I certainly appreciate anyone who takes the time to have a listen and leave a comment or some constructive feedback for improvement. It is too easy to either not listen at all, or to listen and not reply. So I want to honor those who took the time to leave a verbal little somethin' something' :toothless: ;)
