Hi guys!
Here is The Cure´s super hit "Just Like heaven". I did the whole music by myself :) I think i could sing on this one, but i have many people around and im too shy to make it and also im very uncalmed for wait for the proper time to record myself. So if there´s someone who wants to give it a shoot just do it. You have my permission!
I think i did a pretty good overall work here.... however, this could be a good Karaokee for your collection :thumb: I hope you like it! GT

Well, I certainly didn’t see this one coming! :p This is really quite a great production here, GT. It started out a little thin and MIDI-sounding in the very beginning, but as you added more instruments in the intro, it started to take off like an airplane and soared the rest of the way through the tune. The strings sound just like the original, as do the guitars. Do you have an acoustic guitar going through this? Sounds nice. I would not consider myself to be a huge Cure fan but admit to really liking quite a number of their tunes, and I downloaded a lot of Cure MIDIs just yesterday, actually. There are a few that I definitely want to cover. I will give this a shot on the vocals when I get home tonight. If I sound like crap, then you will never hear it. :toothless: But if I end up remotely pulling it off, I will shoot you a copy when finished. Don’t hold your breath though. I’ve never really tried to do a Robert Smith impersonation, but will give it my best shot. Anyway, this was a really excellent recreation of this tune. WTG! 5 stars from me since you did it all yourself and it sounds so good.

Man, I was singing out loud as hell with my headphones to this, LOL! Didn´t even listen to myself as I have the volume turned up pretty loud. I´m a huge The Cure fan, brings back LOT´S of good memories. Awesome stuff GT, please, more! Lullaby! Boys don´t cry! Hell, whatever! 5´vers for the memories. :)

im a big cure fan, and i covered this song a long time but your version kicks the crap out of mine lol!
the mix is a tad harsh, a little too much gain....maybe these laptop speakers.. the guitars fx fit well.

Hehe, I know the feeling. I don't really feel at ease singing infront of people at all either. Especially not recording with headphones so all everyone hears is your voice

Anyway, killer version here! Seems like you can put just about anything together! :thumb:

Would you have had a go like me old Baldster? Tell you wot it would be quite surreal hearing you trying to (pardon the expression) pull off Robert Smith

Im still waiting KCAR :D
...or im gonna have to screw my recording with my voice:toothless:Get to screwing, amigo! In all seriousness, I gave it a whirl and I sounded like dog feces compared to the original. Your recording deserve way more justice than I can provide. I hope someone else can do it though...or yourself! I hope I didn't get your hopes up too much.

What about VanMan??? He said he has sung this one a time or two?
Hey Bob, you should do this one, but in the stylings of James Hetfield! (Metallicure) :toothless:

Well I loved the backer and it sent me chasing down the original tune as I don't remember it at all!! I must have heard this before but it didn't register with me like other cure songs have done.

This version is amazing - I love the clarity you got here GT. Its a sweet track with good tones and a lot of space. A real 5 star production mate!!

So I tried to sing to it ... :tard: apologies in advance for another hatchet job GT

Man porty, I dont think I have heard anyone whose "failed" attempts sound as good as yours :p
Ya delivered big time, in my opinion! Great to hear this one with vocals. Bloody brilliant actually ;)

Hey, great job, Porty. Way better than my feeble attampt. I dig the harmonies too. My honest assessment is that a re-do of a couple lines from the first verse would polish this off to perfection. It is pretty darned close to perfect as-is, but there are a few lines in that first section that were a bit off from the orignal (although the "Show me, show me, show me" intro part really blew me away!). Everything else, I must admit, sounds quite excellenty like Robert Smith!!! I think you found your singer for this tune here, GT! :yourock:

I might have a go at doing a bit more - but I need to recover from some of those high notes first. I think, if you listen carefully, you can actually hear my left testicle explode during one of the higher notes lol!!

I think it depends on what you want to accomplish... If you want to sound like Robert Smith, or if you just wanna do some damn good vocals. I think you've already done the second. I don't know about the first, cause I haven't really listened too much to the cure. :tard:

yeah - I never even thought of trying to sound like Robert Smith to be honest - I just tried to sing it. Its hard enough just hitting the notes without trying to do the fey slightly off key Smithisms :D

I am still shocked at how good a job GT did on the backer - the guy is uncanny when it comes to recreating these tunes!

Thanks so much guys!!!. I tought i was the only "CURE" fan on this forum. Im really glad you like the recording, and now its better with GO on it!

Hey Goport! That was a really, really great take!! Thanks sooo much man. Your a great singer, i told you before.
You still have the right testicle, dont you? :D
Cause a drummer friend of mine is going to play the drums for the song. So i really apreciate, if you have the time and want to sacrifice that right nut and could sing over the finished track. I will send you the files in order to achieve synch in the recordings.
So, are you in??:thumb:
