Hi all, :yourock:

I have trouble differentiating between those threads/musicians who need a backing track in the backing track forum,
and those threads where community members are cool enough to just post their backing tracks for the community to use and share,

any chance this issue could be simplified,

one idea might be create a seperate forum for requests of backing tracks so that we(those of us who have/make backing tracks) could help

what are your thoughts as to solutions?

:thumb: Excellent idea and one that's used to great effect on a similar site, must admit when I was trawling through the BT section trying to find someone who was still looking, in order to maybe help 'em out, as opposed to ones where the BT was already posted was pretty frustrating, wound up just checking the thread a lot of the time, if it had an attachment then I assumed there was a track posted.:dunno:

I think its a good idea Metal but the only problem is that you get lots of leechers coming onto forums just for what they can get there hands on and not being seen again.
When i use to be part of afew diffrent forums they had something like 2000 members or so and 150ppl who were active on the forums lol, bottom line was ppl were just signing up so they could download free bootlegs and the bts, not contribute anything back to the community.
What you could do though to counter that problem is to put a count post ratio on that part of the forum, so lets say you want sign up then download the bts, well no you can't access that part of the forum yet, cos actually you have to have lets say 100 posts before you can enter that part of the forum.
I know alot of us do alot of sharing on here, but you know when you get loads of new members who have one post and are in the requests part of the forum reeling of a xmas wish list, its out of line .
That way atleast your making them actively be part of the forum, who knows once they make it to the 100 mark, they might think well you know i quite actually like this forum, lots of friendly and helpful ppl on here:)
I think with the above system though it would be a excellent idea, but im just thinking on the kind of ppl we as a community want coming in on here, we want members who are active and willing to give aswell as take.
Thats just my thoughts lol, but i would hate to see us plagued with loads of members and few active ones:)

Understand what your saying but I find that with any forum, and I'm on a few, no matter what the subject matter, your always gonna get a 'core' group of contributors who's names keep coming up time and again, whilst this is good, it can also be detrimental to the sites at times as threads, and ideas start to become 'dull as dishwater' as people begin to run out of things to say?
As regards people 'Leeching' tracks off sites I know what you mean, if there's one thing gets my goat it's when you go to the trouble of making contact, supplying the track, or whatever, and then you don't get so much as a thank you for your time and effort!!

Some good points guys. Lets keep this discussion going. We're open to new ideas. I think at first, we set this section up just for the sake of having it, lol. We never really fine tuned things, but there seems to be renewed interest now. I just wanna be sure it's used properly. We put alot of work into the "other" forum, only to see it ruined by leechers. If this place became a gas station, where you just fill up and go... then it's pointless.

Well an open forum for requesting bts doesn't sound a great idea to me, and i agree with what Mart and Charles have said really.
But even now we seem to have to the 10/1 ratio on downloads to thank you's, and not all from annonomous 1 post members either.
Its half the reason i stopped making bt for public release, for around 150-200 bt's i put out, i got maybe 20 or 30 thanks, and probably over 4000 downloads between them, and i don't think it would be any different here if we had the traffic, and quite honestly, do we want it.

So imo, leave it as it is.

Would it be easier if you keep the system basically 'as is' but maybe have some method where by a request could have a tag of some sorts on it to make it stand out from the threads with BT's already posted?

Well there is already a "Type" system in place on other parts of the forum, where the post can be marked as a Request or whatever else, not sure how much work that is for the admin to put in a different section.
But in someways, the how is only half the point of the discussion.

Thats why I haven't put in a request for a backing track!
I am new to this site and only have been online for just over a year.
I didnt even know a site like this exsited until I did a search for the Ibanez guitar center exclusive for the s620ex. I am not familiar with putting songs on the internet I did'nt even know of bacing tracks, online
I have been learning Joe Satriani's "Satch boogie" which I would like to submit to the mp3 covers forum, when i figure out how! but my Ibanez zr tremolo
shit the bed!!which i've been finding out is a common problem with the zr's
I've been waiting for about 3 weeks for the part I ordered from guitar center
From Ibanez. so please bear with me!! I think this site is awsome!!!!
I've heard some of the most talented musicians I've ever heard,I enjoy this site alot!! but I don't have alot of time to work on putting music on this site.
I've been playing the guitar for about 26 years as a hobby not too much band experience, But I love to play guitar and listen to music.
