These are some pentatonic raking ideas I've been messing around with. Each example will be in E major pentatonic. If you would like to, end every example by adding an open E at the end of it (or an open A if you like to create an "E Major Pent Over A" sound). Remember that all of these shapes can be transposed elsewhere on the neck and used over different root notes than just E. Many of these exercises are also good practise for leading with upstrokes, which is useful since most guitarists are taught to lead with downstrokes. In all of these exercises, depending on how the notes are grouped, each four note grouping, three note grouping or six note grouping can be thought of as an independant shape of its own.

Example 1
The picking pattern for this is three raked upstrokes and a downstroke for each group of 4.

Example 3
The picking pattern for this is four raked upstrokes for each group of 4 - purely raked. The last note is slid into.
