First off let me clear something up, these are the "Official" Bond's. There have been other actors to have played the role who predate the mighty Sir Sean Connery. Barry Nelson (an American I believe) was "Jimmy Bond" in a Climax! CBS Television Episode from 1954, David Niven played "Sir James Bond" in a rather daft spoof bearing the title Casino Royale, which is completely different to 2007's rather excellent Official Bond release of the same title starring Daniel Craig... but anyhoo, lets forget these non official Bond n00bs . Who is the Best OFFICIAL Bond. I have a good idea who will win but it'll be interesting to see how many votes "the other guys" get... Let the voting Commence.
Sean Connery (1962–1967; 1971)

Not too long ago I would have tried to be all different and vote for someone who might be thought an underdog in such a poll/contest. But if im honest, Sir Sean takes the biscuit in my opinion. Always seemed to be the one who could take care of himself, the rest were a little bit too soft in too many places. Daniel Craig changed all that... but 1 movie isn't yet enough in my view to put him on par with Connery. He is the closest in my opinion though. What do you guys think ?... lets have your votes chaps n lasses.

I still haven't seen Daniel Craig play Bond yet, but I think I'll have to stick with Sean Connery on this one. The part seemed to have been tailor made for him and he was extremely believable in the role. After that, I'd go with Pierce Brosnan who did a fantastic job as well. I'm a videogame player so having Pierce in the 007 games really added to my love of his portrayal of the character.
Definitely Sean!!!! He is a man's man right??!!! Like he could hang with the boy's, seduce the ladies, and fight the bad guy's with one hand, while having a nice sip of his martini ( shaken, not stirred) with the other!!! IMO he is THEE James Bond!!:thumb:

Not really a fan of the series but I liked Daniel Craigs' grittier character and I thought he added a nice psycho element into a character that can shoot to kill. Connerys bond seems a little dated to me and Roger Moores was played for laughs too much. Dalton and Brosnan were ok and Lazenby just didn't register with me at all.

I think Daniel Craig has made him more ruthless which is something that Bond lost with the likes of Roger Moore and, to some extent, Pierce Brosnan. I also think it's much more difficult to impress an audience these days. I watched Monsters Inc with my daughter today and the advert showing how difficult it is to scare kids was very funny. As a starting movie Daniel Craig has silenced a lot of critics and I feel certain, if he remains for some time, he will uphold what SEan Connery brought to the role. The first ten minutes of Casino Royale are 150mph boys own stuff...thrilling and close to as far as you could imagine a 007 agent to be.

Well you have to give them all props for the role, they all brought something diffrent to the Bond films, but i must admit i could never get into the Pierce Brosnan bond films:p
I really did enjoy the latest one with Daniel Craig though, its was unusual for me to sit through a Bond movie, but i was hooked on watching it lol, so DC gets my vote:thumb: :thumb:

I liked the last Bond flick too, Craig puts a new spin on it but Connery wins this simply for that bit in You only live twice where he was disguised as a Japanese man. I think everyone was fooled by that performance because lots of Japanese have Scottish accents too.

And I reckon he must have spent hours in makeup to complete the transformation...:notme:
I've actually gone with Daniel Craig as to me he is the most faithful to the books character - and I also felt Timothy Dalton was closer than the others, shame the films he played in were crap.
Roger Moores overacting eyebrows were pretty damned fine though

Piers Brosnan for me. I just found him much more easier to believe. i.e. he sounded hard to me and acted hard as well, and the lines to the women didn't come across as cheesey.
All the others all had an element of cheddar about them to me, with the exception of the new guy who would also scare the shit out of me !

... if Pierce Brosnan seems hard to you Dave my good chap then something isn't adding up lmao. Do you stick out your pinky when you sip tea from your finest china cups too ?
*Butters you a splendid scone* ;) Just jesting mate. Pierce was a class Bond in my book too. Played the role fantastically. Goldeneye was also the movie that totally reinvigorated the whole franchise and gave it it's balls back. For that alone he deserves numerous nods.

Roger Moore for me.
Sean Connery will get this as he was the original, people do tend to favour the originals, for me he was a bit boring, he rox in many other movies more so than Bond in my opinion.
Roger Moore brought a cool calm and typically English collected to the bond series, a bit like Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge.
His Englishness fitted bond better in my opinion, and you had to admire his cool attitude.
The humour he brought to Bond was a bonus, I still laugh at his very English arrogant attitude, and over confidence :)
After all Bond was suposed to be an Englishman If I'm correct, not that it matters.
stay cool

For that, I'm gonna send Timothy Dalton over to twat you !
Heh heh heh. I'm sory, I just didn't find any of the other Bonds that believable. There's one scene in one of the movies where Brosnan is in a bar and he asks to see the bouncers boss - now. He engages his eyes and just had the look as though he means business. Then the man mountain of a bouncer tried to take him on. He leg sweeps the bouncer and then hangs him from his own tie on the bar - thus following through that he actually meant business and wasn't just the look.
Time and time again Brosnan did this as Bond in the movies and it just seemed believable. I never got that from Dalton, Moore, or even Connery to be honest. Always made me want to make some cheese on toast.
:D
Then again, you see him as the dickhead who chokes on the prawn in Mrs DOubtfire and it all goes a bit wrong when he is then humped back to life by Robin Williams in drag.

That's the kind of thing that keeps popping into my head when I think of Brosnan. But I have to agree he was a fantastic Bond. I think every Bond movie Brosnan made was pretty damn good. Perhaps a bit too much tongue in cheek from time to time but that's kind of part of the Bond charm I guess.
Moore was great too but the humour overtook everything else with him at a point in my view and that was never what Bond was meant to be about from what I gather.
One of the problems with the earlier movies is the technology and special effects being crap. That's where the cheese comes from with Connery for the most part I think. I always felt Connery was the only one (Until Dan Craig) who really seemed like he could kick some arse when he needed to.
But aye, all opinion of course. That's the point of these things. Get some opinions and have a bit crack about it all. Let the voting continue.
