The audio is screwed Lawrence..... If i turn it up loud enough to hear you, it starts peaking.....and even with my volume up all the way, it seems weak, audio-wise...:dunno:

I mimed this one mate. :D

Seriously - I got art and eric to check it and it worked fine for them... it is mono and only in one speaker though. I will wait for a few more responses and redo it if others can't hear it too.

Maybe i wasn't clear, seeing my post was right after the post of your clip. The tutorial audio is what i was refering to..... the clip is pure and strong, just the tutorial audio is clipping badly on my end.......:thumb:

Thats actually what I thought you meant mate. I don't understand why though. playback is fine here and I had Bluesplayer, Ender and Ericgtr and check it for me and they all said it was ok.

I can't explain it...

It plays fine here. Too bad it's in mono though, as it's hard to get much volume. No clipping at all. JPF, maybe you need to update your flash:dunno:

Well, first of all, your tune is freakin cool! I love the feel/mood/vibe. It is ethereal and dreamy. I could hear Satriani playing over this. This is an excellent explanation and very inspiring, as you make it seem simple. I am excited to rework a few of my original tunes using this knowledge. thanks for taking the time to put it together.

And lastly, you really do have a great voice/speaking style for radio or voice-overs! :D

Turn on the backing track and then watch Goport's avatar!

Play fine here too, mate! Good stuff!

One question that I was hoping you were going to cover...how can you set it up to slide up or down from note to note rather than just play them individually? I'd really like to learn that.

Voice overs? lol!! from where I come from I am as common as muck. Thanks for all the props - hopefully this is, or has been, in some way helpful.

As for slides? thats a difficult one and one I hope Bluesplayer takes up on the challenge (amongst others - Bluesplayer is the midi guru on this site and there is nothing he can't reproduce)

But for an overview - slides (one note to another) on keys is actually more about the VSTi than programming. For example if you me the portmento effect on synths that is actually handled by the VSTi patch and not by midi programming. Slides can be programmed in midi (for example using the pitch bend parameter in cubase) but this is far easier to control by using a pitch bend on a midi compatible keyboard. programming bends is a hit and miss affair as it often sounds completely synthetic and, well, "midified." try listening to any midi file with a guitar solo in and you will get my drift :) midi bends are far more authentic with a skilled operator of an analogue pitch shift control. Just my $0.02 worth.

Bluesplayer probably knows a far better way to do it than me and so do others so I am going to upload the software I used to create these two tutorials so hopefully we should get a few more tutorials going.

Thank you Goport. I knew there must have been more than one way to do it. I've heard some excellent midi slides and others that sound like pure garbage. It's just one of those things about midi programming that, among many other things, I'd really like to learn. I appreciate your info and maybe Bluesplayer can add some insight if he would be so kind.

Thanks again. :yourock:

p.s. Thanks for the Edirol. Works and sounds great.
