Heres a tune from way back . The band were called Hammer , prior to me joining they were very metal . However they wanted to go a different direction , sort of melodic like , so i was asked to replace the original lead player and team up with a rhythm/lead player . We cut three tracks in a 24 hour session . I dunno why it took so long  . At the time Atari's were not out , so this was all traditional ,done on a Fostex B16 , and all effects like reverse ghosting were done by fiddling with the tapes , great to watch . Anyway this tune represents the direction Hammer wanted to go . The overall sound quality listening back is Awfull .

Cool ... brings back memories Art.

Sounds familiar ... I'm sure I remember it. Didn't you play this one at the Cleveland Live Aid? (was it the '85 or '86 one that you played at?)

Doggy sounds great on vox too .. as well as Bob on 2nd guitar (loved his Confederate flag lefty LP)

Very cool Art!!! Cool to hear some of your early stuff....knew you hadn't just been sitting around in your house all these years creating awesome music!!! LOL. This has a great prog vibe on the intro...... Like ELP or Yes!!! Then it gets that real St. Elmos Fire vibe!!!! Very cool stuff bro!!! That real compressed snare sound is funny to hear now!!! LOL!! You should post more blasts from your past mate!!!! Great listen!!!!

Wah - Art, that was good - more chords than you can shake a stick at! The Lead playing is excellent as are the vocals - great to hear guitarists that can stay in key!

JPF, you could always tell that Art had something special: while the rest of us were flinging our fingers around willy-nilly, missing the important notes, you could see that Art was always carefully considering his next move on the fretboard - in a very quick fashion! I'm sure Art knows what I mean.

Hmmmm somebodys playing with the knobs again :notme: , anyway a little more info .
You probably know Musk that i replaced Kenny Nicholson ( ex Black Rose ) replaced in that band by Chris Wah Wah Watson . Anyway at the time after 2 albums , one under the name of Holland , then changing name to Hammer , the band decided to ditch the heavy thrash type sound and go melodic . So in a nutshell out went Kenny and in came me . Kenny had led the band down a heavy metal route , so the hope was things would be different and better without him ... Ok so there i was Tokai in hand thinking how do you play melodic  , something i had skirted with in the past doing Page riffs but mainly i was a Blackmore minor scale man . After a couple of hours rehearsing i latched onto the keyboard/vocalist "Doggy Wilkingson ". I quite enjoyed the unison of guitar and keyboard playing tight together . Bob , the rhythm/lead player was left to roam around to do his own thing . I was never that happy with the melodic side , sometimes we would go into a minor section , and it was like putting on a pair of old slippers . Anyway after a while we started advertising for female backing singers !!! what a laugh that was lol , like the X Factor , anyway eventually we found a good one "Claire". So the band became a six piece , things started to look up until Graeme Hutch ( Bass) had to move south , leave the band and follow work obligations , next went Doggy , then our Drummer , then me .

Just like that ........

Bummer - I know how it goes, tho. It sure is great to work with a good keyboard player: something that a lot of bands kicked into touch in order to get that guitar-oriented metal flavour: shame.

Still, just look at the stuff you're kicking out these days - one word: awsome! :thumb:

Do you play any live stuff these days?
