Well, not a huge amount to say about this one (yeah right  I never shut up). First off let me make it clear that I think it's the best of the lot of them. Die Hard spawned an entirely new genre when it came out. It was bold and bloody, clever and whitty. it also continues to stand the test of time... something im not sure the first 2 sequels have done. So how does 4.0 square up to such a classic ?...

Well as I said, I think it's the best one. Willis got into pretty great shape for this film and made the character just as badass as he was way back when. The casting was pretty inspired too I felt, with alot of enjoyable performances. Most notably his wiseass, genuis hacker "sidekick".

The set peices are pretty breathtaking, even in an era such as this. Everything from the fight that takes place in and around a truck stuck in and soon to start falling down an elevator shaft, to a lorry fighting with a jet plane. Won't give too much away, but they're pretty special stuff and Willis is on his action hero best here.

The Director has framed it all beautifully, rich in detail and the colour palette is nicely used, gritty as you would expect but just the right colours used in just the right amounts in just the right moments. Which just highlights the better sides of the film. The only real negatives for me are that it really isn't an original concept... but it wasn't intended to be. I will happily give this film a very very healthy...

4 out of 5 Stars. Well worth a watch on a Saturday night with a curry and beer.
