I'm about as big of a Vai fan as there is, having bought about every CD he has out, and putting up with the recycled tracks he's used on like 40 CD's. But this one.... I dunno. Not real fond of it actually.

There's a few shining moments, as there usually are on a Vai CD, but it's just not what I was looking for. It took a while to get used to "Real Illusions", but it grew quite quickly, and has some of my fave Vai moments to date on it. K'm Pee Du Wee is genius at work, and Building the Church was just insane.

If you are looking for that type of stuff from Vai, I don't recommend Sound Theories.

Yeah i think Vai is fantastic , the way he express's himself on the guitar is second to none for sure :)
Well i did download it from our filshare section (which i think it was Pod God who kindly put it up) , lol i still haven't listened to it atm , ive got about 10 albums here i need to listen to but this one is gonna be one of the first i get round to:D
I thought Real Illusions is a excellent album, my least favourite is Sex and Religion:p

Bummer, that project was supposedly a long time in the making and I was thinking of picking it up as I haven't got a Vai cd since Flex-Able but thanks for the head's up.
