This was a song by double request. First, my wife wanted me to do this song because she loves the album, and then second, Shooter had posted a request looking to sing for any one who might be doing a Creed song. Due to the fortunate timing, it was obvious what needed to be done. Shooter stepped up and delivered a fantastic job with the vocals. The fingerpicking part in the beginning was pretty challenging, so I simplified it somewhat, just to get the essence. The bass part was fun to play and I tried to match the dynamics of the original mix, which is pretty powerful. Hope it worked.

I really thought the performances were all GREAT. Thought the vox could have been a little drier in the intro/verse parts. Seemed to hit a little weird (vocal effect/reverb NOT the singing itself) when the vocal track first came in, but Shooter really delivers his singing/performance and has an amazing likeness. Liked what you did with the finger picking, not sure if I noticed the difference? Cool cover guys!

Thanks for the listen and the comments..I agree, the vox came in a little weird in the intro...Still learning the recording side of things...ksdb did a great job on guitars..A pleasure to work with!

I hope you do some singing on another Creed song. I've always really liked the band, but have somewhat boycott'd them because of my sincere dislike of Scott. It's really nice to hear their music with someone else behind the mic doing the vocals. I've always had a sentimental attachment to that song "heard the news today", etc... don't know it's name. I remember blasting it on the radio at the time when I found out I was going to be a Dad. Again guys... Great job.

I see Creed Live in Phillie about 6 years ago and that Mark Tremonti is a trooper on guitar...You guys really did this credit...I covered this song in a covers band once and the timing on this song is a B*tch at times....Plus you take for granted when you hear this song (you think...yep that will be easy to do) , but go try play it and you will soon learn it is a challenge

I think the use of effex on the vox works on this as it is a challenging song, especially the chorus vox:notme:

I think this cover worked nice guys:D

Yeah Wigrocks is right , a little less effect would enhance the vocals . I like the fret rattle on the Bass , something i cannot create using Midi :maddance: . and also the full fat comped Bass tone . The tune builds and builds into something of excellence . I really like the fuzzy axes and strings , dam guys this tune kicks serious ass !!!!!!

Since i used to be a pretty major Creed fan, and continue to dig it. And definately love the Alter Bridge stuff... i was actually reluctant to listen to this. Just incase you butchered it . It's a brave effort and certainly a starting point... but i can't help but feel maybe you put this up too soon ?.

It is by no means bad but it sounds like it requires some surgery still. Im sorry if that comes off a bit harsh. I just think you can take it further and better it if you dont rush to put it up.

Personally i wouldnt have dirty sounding guitars on this, especially the intro. Tremonti makes a point of having clean guitar parts sound as clean as possible. It's supposed to be gentle at the start. Then build up. The build up into the more rocky riffing is a big moment in the tune and you kind of lose that when you start with fuzzy guitars.

A nice bit of noise reduction on those vocals wouldn't go amiss either.

I'll leave it there cause i don't wish to disshearten you fellas. Take it with you and clean it up. Spend some time on it. It's a song i like from a band i like, and so for me personally i'd rather hear it done as well as the individual/s doing it can actually do it. And i think you can do it better.

Sorry if this is indeed a bit much. Just how i feel. Go ahead and ignore it if ya dont dig it. :thumb: you're certainly on the right track and thats the best place to be.

No offense taken DannyBoy....Positive or negative comments are welcome!!I agree,I think this was rushed a little....The effects were a bad choice on my part...I think if we take the time to redo this,we could do this song justice!!Thanks for the listen and well intended critisism.

I appreciate your comments. I didn't quite get the impression of the guitar intro being all that clean when listening to the original. It's cleaner than the setting I used, but I wasn't going for a pure reproduction of the original. BTW,the dynamic change when the guitar tone goes to the heavier distortion always sounded to me like a ripoff of a group called Hum on the song Stars (and done to a similar extent by other groups like Nirvana and Slint).

A nice bit of noise reduction on those vocals wouldn't go amiss either.

Thanks for the time and detailed comments. I'm not too concerned about redoing the song since it already passed the wife test :D , but the suggestions will be helpful in future productions.
