Just gone outside and the night sky is amazing. However, if anybody lives near London, UK, can they confirm this???

It's a full moon and completely windless...not a leaf stirring. Yet there was a shitload of whispy cloud going past the moon. When it went past, there was a HUGE X in vapor trail above my house!!!! Now, fighter jets may train at this time of night but the wind is ZERO...where did those clouds come from and why is there a huge X above my house??? Not pissing about and not foobared either!

Look at your X and then slightly turn your head to the right I'm gald you brought this up because I saw the same thing over my house two days ago along with seeing full crosses in clouds +++++ strait up and down probably at least a dozen times over the last six months.

Tried to take pictures but thay never turned out on film not one of them after taking abought 30 pictures I finally gave up .:)

i live in da smoke, and i see the full moon [phrrrp] i musta missed those wispy clouds that scared the shit outa ya! :p

Wind is three dimensional and currents in it can occur at various depths and directions. The speed isn't the same, nor in the same direction, all the way up.

Imagine the beach and undertow. You can get pulled down and sucked out to sea by the shit; the sea even contains "rivers". Wind is much the same way...currents all over the place. You can even have wind at ground level blowing a totally different direction than a mile up and more often than not the wind is much faster up there where it isn't getting slowed down by land features and where it's much colder.

Sure is creepy looking though when it happens like you describe. I've seen it before.

Clouds are funny things , i spotted one once , it was shaped like the internal workings of a combustion engine , i said to our lass " can you see anything up there " , she said "yeah , the internal workings of a combustion engine "! .

I would take a week of work :wtf:

Nah i must admit you do see some funny things in the sky, especially at night but i always put it down to being tired :woot:

Well I saw what I saw...which was amazing. Prolly two jets overlapping on night mission or summat to form the X but the clouds while there was no wind whatsoever made it VERY wierd.
