There was a Twilite Zone episode about that. An Elvis impersonator and Elvis history expert gets in a car accident and wakes up in the past before Elvis makes his first recording. Elvis picks him up walking down the road and they get to hanging out. Elvis thinks the guy is his long dead brother come back from heaven to help him. Elvis's style is nothing like we remember though and when the future guy shows him the rock and roll versions of his song Elvis says he's working for the devil. They get in a big fight and Elvis falls on hit guitar, impaling himself through the heart with the neck. The impersonator ends up living his life out, event for event, to keep history the way it was "supposed" to be.

It was one of the color episodes.
