Hey everyone, a bit of info on our new themed monthly contest.
The theme for this month is going to be halloween, so its basically a spooky kind of feel etc, Avalon and myself are making a bt between us to match for this occasion and will be put up this monday coming(after the weekend), this will be the backing track you use for this months compitition.
We will be accepting your submissions from the 15th of this month and the limit of submissions is 30, so its first come first served on this :)
If your not certain of the rules then you can read them here,
http://www.guitarblast.com/showthread.php/new-contest-format-6864.html

We also encourage you all to try some creativity out on this, but most importantly enjoy yourselves.
Thanks and if anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me :)

File is uploaded. It is an original backer created by Bahamut and Avalon and it is excellent in my opinion.

Don't be too worried about the deadline on this - we are not accepting submission UNTIL the 15th :) closing date will be decided either by number of entries being reached or by a role call on all entrants.

Many thanks to Bahamut for getting his teeth into this and for Avalon also for helping creat such a good quality backer.

good question - you post it in the other competition forum as a NEW thread with a title like "Bulletman - Halloween Comp Entry".

We know this competition is going to be a slow starter so we are not going to state a closing date. if it overruns past Halloween it is not a problem. voting will probably take place sometime in November so anyone can enter with plenty of time to get their entry ready.

I might have a crack at it for a laugh. My playing is scary already. Scary as in scary bad, not scary good.

So I will play scarily badly, scarily out of tune, and scarily without melody.

I should be a perfect match for this month's theme don't you think ?

:dunno:

This backing is most excellent. Would be a priveledge to lay some lead on top of it.

I do have a question though, i am not sure I have time to come with 4 mins+ of lead for this, so would it be leagl to like cut a minute off and start at the second intro part?

Just curious.

Well if I have time I will give this a shot.

great job guys!:thumb:

Lol i thought i put a post up to the entrys , anyway Dallas i loved what you did with your version of this m8, some lovely tones cutting it through the mix and was very spooky in places , was very enjoyable:)
Dances i loved the evil voices on this aswell as the dark rhythm sound you have going , some lovely lead licks aswell which really filled the whole track , also was a very enjoyable listen
Johnny i loved your rendition of this, added a excellent twist from all the dark guitaring when the vocals came in aswell , also like Dances you had some evil mojo voices going which added to the spooky feel , just had a excellent vibe to it
Nice one fellas , was a joy listening to these , look forward to hearing some more :thumb: :thumb:

First off i gotta say i've missed this format of monthly contest, listening to Dallas, DWG and Bulletman (cracking work guys too i must say) really reminds me of the good old days, a level playing field and and your imagination to work with, great stuff
Loving the first 3 versions i've heard too, Dallas, excellent tone and playing, the lead in alot of places is almost how i heard it when it was being made :) , DWG, equally excellent work, great tone and playing, and i loved the extra effects you added in, they worked brilliantly :thumb: , finally Bullet, big thumbs up to you as well, the darkest take on it so far imo and i like alot of the changes you made in there, its really eviled it up in there and great playing and tones too

Look forward to hearing more too :)

Avalon! Thank you very much. I was looking for something really dark sounding to go along with the great track you guys came up with. I think if I remember right,..I tuned down the low E and A to an open B?? Not sure. Is that what the song was in,..B?? Anyway,.. That gave it a real dark feel. Well, the rest was just fun to do! Thanks again and have a great day! You rocked the shit out of that backer! Very good.

I was having a go at this last night. Excellent backer, I didn't know what scales I was playing. I just picked a few random notes that sort of fit. I hope that I can get this finished in time, as it will be fun to participate.

However, I was using Cubase for the first time and experienced a bleeding of the other tracks into my guitar track. I'm not sure how to stop that or why it is happening. I am recording without using a microphone so direct into my soundcard so this shouldn't happen, should it ?

:headscratch:

Anyway, I will keep plugging away and see if I can resolve it and get a finished track under there. In the meantime I won't be listening to the other entries yet as I don't want them to influence me or more importantly, discourage me, as I just know that they will all be excellent !

Thanks to Bahamut and Avalon for the backer. It is a cracker.

I'm a poet, and don't I know it ?

Mondola,..Go to your tool bar on the bottom of your screen where the little speaker icon is (lower right hand side on your desktop) Click on that to bring up your Volume control panel,..then click on options, then click on
properties,..then you'll see playback and record,..click the radio button to select record and click OK. Another window will pop up for your record options,...click in the box for (Line In) and adjust the level to about half way to start. Close out all windows and the bring up your recording software and try it again. If your input level is to high go back to your recording options and adjust the level lower until it's at a safe level that won't peak you VU meters in your software. This should do it for you!
Let me know.
