So Radiohead have decided to sell their latest album over the net for whatever you wish to pay for it. You have to enter in your personal info and your credit card information. BUT if you want to pay nothing and download it for free from the official site - you can - just leave the honesty box empty. The concept is a novel spin on the way people procure MP3 albums. If you only pay a dollar - that is still one dollar more than they would have gotten from the average music thief. And the genuine fans are paying on average $8-10 so they have not really lost out too much as yet.

As for the music - this is possibly the accessible post OK Computer music they have released. And the performances are far better than anything from the last 3 CD's - they sound reinvigorated and, god forbid, enthusiastic (rare for radiohead who seem to only be happy when they are sad heheh.)

Better still the songs are more accessible than what I have come to expect from them over the last 7-8 years. But there is no compromise in artistic merit. The CD easily merges Amnesiac, Kid A, The Bends, and OK Computer with ease and to good effect.

Its a very solid collection of songs. House of Cards is lovely and quite immediate. Videotape is beautiful and could almost be a latter Beatles/Solo Lennon track. And although there is no obvious Beatles correlation here. It definitely doesn't sound like the Beatles but I keep thinking of latter period Beatles while this plays. Just the way the band seem to be genuinely creative together rather than one member bringing the songs to the table. And it is melodic - so maybe that's it?

Either way it is a stunning collection of songs. There is so much space in their music regardless of how much is going on. And although I have tried not to mention individuals here - Thom Yorkes vocals are sublime here sad and yet euphoric.

Its bloody good.

Been playing OK Computer a fair bit lately as one of my students has been working thru their back catalogue as to what he wants me to teach him. It had been a while but the stuff sounds great so looking forward to hearing this..especially if the feeling is that they are back on whatever Radiohead would use as a 'path'.

Been listening to this album a bunch of time now, and I love it!
Great stuff all the way through.
And Thom York's vocals are amazing! Just makes you drift away.
I can't really speak too much about individual songs, as I have been listening to the album as a whole while I was working, so I don't really know which song is which, but the feeling and the sound of the whole thing is great!
