View Full Version : Supertramp - Bloody Well Right - 3fingers & ksdb
This is one of Supertramp's first big radio hits, and the companion piece to the album track "School," which I posted earlier this year. Supertramp has two different lead singers. Since I sang on "School," decided to enlist Sergio to give this track the other voice. His style gives the song more of a rock attitude and a different sense of musicality than the original IMO. The backing parts and improv stuff is really cool. Have a nice sounding electric piano font, which just begged to be used for a song like this. The backer was built from midi and I added the bass and guitar parts.

Thanks guys! Hey, strat, if you have any other Supertramp songs you'd like to do, I'd volunteer to play bass and let you do the guitar parts. Serg mentioned being interested in singing another one of their tracks! Send a PM anytime.

Thanks for the kind comments.
GT, I was wrong about that being a soundfont. It's actually a stand-alone VST. Here's links where I downloaded it. It's a freebie (there's other good stuff at the parent site too):

Supertramp was one of the first bands I was exposed to thanks to my sister many years ago. I still have all of them vinyls here at home. Tough subject to cover. This was good, you guys deffinately poured your souls on it, but I felt some off timing on the tracks, (Iīm sure itīs not you guys) itīs just the aligning of them all tracks in whatever daw.

That's a pretty good observation. I get a lot of latency and syncing issues and often go back to resync things, but sometimes you don't catch everything. Also, I notice my system sometimes 'stutters' during the recording process where a drum track or keyboard track gets stuck for an extra couple of milliseconds, throwing off the subsequent timing. Someday, I hope to get a faster processor. I do all my work on a laptop and it can get overmatched.

Thanks guys. Thanks Joe. I know you did a heck of a lot of work with all the layers and conversion and mixing. Enjoyed doing this with you. Sorry I kept you waiting so long for it (3 months).

My PC is an "old" 2003 one as well. What I do when recording a bunch of tracks is spend a lot of time zooming in the tracks in Audacity and aligning them, sometimes I get too obsessive with the issue, but it sure pays back. A few months ago I had to change the mobo and consequently "restart" everything, and for some reason when I recorded anything, not only it was out of sync, but also with a slight different timing. Eventually I managed to fix it out. This fortunately is not the issue here from what I can tell after listening to it again :). I´d love to listen to more ST covers by you guys, Easy does it from the Crisis? What crisis? would be cool!

Awwweee bloody marvelous stuff , are you playing this piano dude , if so your amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!! . A wonderful song superbly sung and incredibly well put together I'm under the impression you made the backer to dude , if so well done , this sounds terrific .
5sssss from me all the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:thumb:
Thanks Art. Wish I could take credit for the keyboards, but those and the drums were all from a midi file. Gotta like it when you find one that's sequenced this well -- that and a good soundfont or VSTi adds the extra level of authenticity. I really admire the folks who can sequence these midi files. Some of them are amazingly accurate.
OUTSTANDING there Joe and Sergio!!! Friggin' track is fantasic Joe, real authentic sounding instruments, and your playing is right on!!! And Serg, this just fit's you like a glove bro!!! Really well done...gets my 5ers!!!!:yourock:  :thumb:
