Wrote this today and needed a skilled player to put the cherry on top - Mark stepped up and played a blinding set of lead fills and solos, in double quick time.
Drums (EZ), Bass, Rhythm Guitar and Vox - Jim (Hans)
Lead Guitar - Mark (Macman)
Samples - Off the interweb
Lots of influences on this one. Mark instinctively knew where I was coming from.
THANKS A MILLION, MARK!

Thanks very much for listening, Rain. I wrote this song as something my band could play cos there's just 4 of us. But It needed a solo so bad I just had to ask Mark/Macman to step in. I'll have to try and persuade our guitarist to get adventurous and try and play it, cos I'll be playing the drums on this one.

the pod 3 doesn't have an editor yet and they don't plan to release one untill january. go to the forrums at line 6 and check out some of the problems guys are having with the x3. you may want to wait. there is supposed to be a fix coming for the pocketpod so all the presets you download will work. so far about 1% work and it makes the pocket pod suck in my opinion. hopefully the new software wil fix the problem but who knows when they will ever release it. so far i think line6 support sucks.

Aha...you found one of my influences for this song! But come on Naif, it's only the first 4 notes I stole :D Don't tell anyone
Hey Jim and Mark...great original....very nice, I can't say it really reminds me of anyone and that's a good thing! Very pro!!! Love the effects that are carefully placed in the perfect spots throughout the song...Congrats on a very well written, and very well performed tune!

very cool tune. I love the vocals and the way certain lines stretch seamlessly over into the next. The whole vibe is pretty unique with the music being more angular and a little more atonal (I mean this is a good way ;)) than the vocals which are very accomplished. I love the harmonies - very full and melodic. If feels like a song too, a real song and that is a massive achievement in itself. Macman's leads compliment the tune too. In fact the instrumental parts reminded me of the Pixies Dolittle era which is a huge compliment in my eyes.
The only minor criticism is the bass is a bit busy and doesn't really sync in on the intro but it does not detriment the tune in any way.
I really liked this. Definitely a 5 star song and a hint of better original songs to come from you Hans. I would like to hear you match the natural melodic aspects of your vocals with a more orthodox backing/progression because I believe you can write some excellent upbeat quirky pop songs. Not wishing to influence your writing but I can hear hints of Teenage Fanclub/Big Star etc.
Anyhow - waffling on here.. Brilliant SONG and great performances all round! 5 Stars chaps :)

Praise indeed when it comes from you, Lawrence!  This is an attempt at something a little more punky. It took me ages to find a vocal tune that was melodic and not punky, because I wanted it to be catchy enough to sing along to it. Its contrasted by a very cognizant decision by Mark to choose a scratchy, punky tone anyway, and he played his sweet cheeks off for the fills and solos.:toothless:
When you say your comment about "lines stretching over into the next", the part I *think* you are referring to is the verses, which is driven by the bass drum, and I defined the drum track before I even knew what the lyrics were (as I am primarily a drummer before a guitarist). But thats what drove that decision anyway.
As for the harmonies, you know from my earlier posts that I don't feel a chorus is complete without 2-3 or even 4 part harmonies :o . And it's true, I am a big fan of TFC. :D I dont seem to be able to hit pitch though, It's a constant struggle to record a vocal that's not an eighth of a tone too flat. I suppose that comes with practise.
Finally the bass... I actually quite liked that part because I thought it DIDNT sound like a bass, but I can see how people could feel the intro was too busy. It would help though if I could play in time!:dunno: The bass wanders ahead of the beat fractionally in a couple of places. Hehe.
Thanks once again for the comments, I always learn a tremendous amount from your VERY valuable and experienced feedback, and from listening to your songs and the way your describe your thought process. I appreciate the time you spend to carefully listen and comment on our tune. Finally, you encourage us to take the brave step into doing original work ourselves... rather than the bread and butter covers. :thumb: :wavey:

I really went for the early New York Punk scene sound. I was thinking Ramones a little when I heard this tune. I call the style I applied to this song Punk/Blues:toothless:
Very well written song and in consequence I worked out my guitar parts in less than an hour as I could just fall into groove of this song very easy.
Thanks again Hans for invite, lets do it again soon:notme:
