Here's a rough cut of a little project of mine. I'm still needing to redo the whole thing but it gives you a decent idea of where I'm going with it.

Here's the equipment rundown for the gear heads (like me)\
-Digitech Drum patch from the GNX 3000 (Groove 1)
-rhythm guitars is a Carvin bolt kit (neck and bridge pickup) through the GNX on the TwinChorus Patch
-Accoustic guitar is a Dean Exotica through a Digitech GSP-21 just to add compression and reverb
-Lead line is the bolt kit (neck and body pickup) through the GNX on the Legacy Solo Patch.

4031

Enjoy :D

PS, I know some of the bends are off and there was a goof in the lead and rhythm lines.. it's just a scratch recording.

Digging the vibe there for sure, :woot:. Man, ya gotta try building up some drums with loops in the pc or some midi stuff.

I will as soon as I find the thingy to turn them on.

OK, I can't find how to enable them... maybe I can't because I'm a newb.

Hi CS, Nice stuff!!!!!!! Im a bit of a noob here myself but in my short time here, ive quickly learned this: hang around, ask questions, act like a sponge with the info people give you, listen to other peoples stuff ( as much as you can take in) and you won't go far wrong. If this is anything to go by ill look forward to hearing your tunes.:thumb:

Thanks for the advice Stereophony, I fully intend to make up for the time I lost in my 15yr break from playing.

I'm not sure if this will be a typical tune from me or not, I seem to have ADD when it comes to what I want to listen to and play.

Here's a better drum backer... It follows your tune exactly at 105 BPM. If you need me to put bass over it, let me know.

AHA! Ya learn something everyday. Thanks 3F! :thumb:

OK, CS... The concept of the song is great. I hear influences from Knoppfler in there. Can't wait to hear version 0.2 with the new drums! By the way, if you think anything on that drum track is over busy, I can remove (or add) stuff.

Thanks again for the track! At the moment it's great! I'm working up new lead lines and trying to decide what changes I want. I'm one of those people who is rarely happy with anything I record but I know that there is a time when you just have to call something done.

Knoppfler huh.. I've only really listen to his work on the radio. I really need to get a Dire CD or 2.

OK version .2 is remixed with the new drums. I know I still need to work on the guitar but I posted this up so you can see that I do appreciate the input and the KICKASS drum track!!

HansHolz

That sounds much better... But I will add that the drums were recorded as if they were in a closed room. There's a fair bit of verb on the guitar in the early stages so to match this you need to add some more verb on the drums (Or I can do it).

But this is small potatoes, you play this piece beautifully. Well done!!

I thought it sounded like they were a little different but I'm just learning how to record and mix so I wasn't too sure. I will put some reverb on the drums for version 0.3 :-)

I have another chord progression that I'm working on at the moment too, I've always shied away from minor chords so I'm making a concerted effort to use them on the new tune. So far the new one's progression is Am, Dm, Gm7, C and Em for the verse section.

OK, I can't get the verb down. Could you hook a brotha up again. I'd greatly appreciate it.

oops, I had that chord progression wrong.. ah well, I'll get it worked out and recorded eventually.

Life is getting in the way of my guitar playing and it's bugging me.

HansHolz

Sure no problem. Will do this tonight. I'll put a "medium-sized, filled concert hall" verb or something like that on it. Or maybe do you a couple to choose from.

Here is version .2b thanks again Hanz. With a drum line this solid there should be no reason to not complete this project over the 4 day weekend.

Great stuff, CS...glad to be of help. It has a very live feel to this now, don't you think?

Do you have a bass? That would make it sound awesome. If not, I can put a bass line along to this if you like? Send me the individual tracks (I think you have just two guitars there). Let me know if this is something you want me to help out with.

Thanks for offering up the bass Hanz. I have one but I just haven't taken the time to work out a bass line. I will have it figured out and recorded this weekend. My goal is to have this song done by Monday.

Thanks a million for the help!

I'm finishing this one up this weekend. I worked out the bass part so now I just need to get time to record it... which I should be doing now. :tard:

I have 2 or three other ideas waiting to be recorded too.. it's either feast or famine for me. I considered just putting the riffs up to see if anyone wanted to do a colaboration considering how much time it takes me to finish a song.

OK, I finished it up this weekend and I'm fairly happy with it. Hopefully I'll be able to leave it alone now and move on to something else.

Thanks HANZ... tons!! You da man.

Wow CS, You really turned up the tone on this last recording. This is really cool sounding. The phrasing is even better than the earlier versions and the bass really gives it some depth. Thanks for letting me collab with you. It was a pleasure, anytime at all.

:yourock: :woot:

Oh and the drums were good too.... yes, I especially liked the drums:rolleyes: :stick: (sorry) :D

I was a little worried that the bass was too loud. Most of the changes on the electric lead lines were composed in the 5 minutes before I hit record.

For the new tone I switched guitars, I was using a Carvin Strat kit with dual rail humbuckers this time I used a true humbucker on my SC90 ( Les Paul sort of copy).
