Yeah they were a great band though back at the time I always sort of thought of them as a poor man's Deep Purple.
If you're thinking of their albums I suggest Look At Yourself, The Magician's birthday, Demons And Wizards, Fallen Angel just to name a few.

Not surprising as they both rehearsed at the same community centre and i guess influences will of been gleaned . I do like the first couple of albums , my favorite been the track Bird of prey . and a lot later Abominog was a classic album of its time .

Nice to know you've seen the light Mandy.
The Heep are one of England's greatest and best-kept secrets. I saw 'em last at The University of Leeds back in 2002 and we managed to blag our way backstage afterwards to meet the guys.
Couldn't believe how small Mick Box is in real life!

I've been listening to some of their stuff recently. Mainly because they have a new drummer called Russell Gilbrook, I personal know him. He was the drummer with my friends band until he landed this gig. He's one of the best drummers in the UK, astounding and a fantastic guy, hoping my friend will get some free tickets and backstage pass to a Uriah gig soon.

Yep, they were great. Supported by "Nazareth" too - another sadly under-exposed Brit band (Scottish this time though).

Yeah, there really are some great buried treasures on that station. One time I heard what I think was a +10 minutes long Beach Boys song except it sounded nothing like the Beach Boys and sounded like it should have belonged on An American Prayer.
Also, I heard an amazing Bowie track on there I'd never heard before, if only I could remember the name...

LOL, well I've hung back stage with my mates band when Russell was in that band, I'll have to give my mate a kick up the backside, see if he can scrounge anything from Russell. Would be great to go see them though. Need to check out the earlier stuff as well. They definately a kick arse band, I can see why you love them Mandy...:)
