Make no mistake, I'm no Steve Perry. Hell, I'm not even Hazard Perry (remember wikipedia is your friend). Of the popular Journey songs, this is at the bottom of Perry's range and therefore perfect for me, lol. This is one is for an old friend (you know who you are). I didn't have the original handy so this is from memory. I don't think it's embarassing. I didn't play ANYTHING on this one at all, I just sang. This is probably a karaoke track. As always, thank you for listening and your feedback is greatly appreciated. Bon soir.

Nothing wrong here at all mate! The vocals sound fine, infact it's good to hear a Journey song without Perry's voice for a change.
A great song from a great band/album.
Go on! Have a go at Edge Of The Blade. Good stuff! a big 5 ***** :thumb:

It's not Steve, Bob, but it's an excellent version! It has all the emotion of the original and perhaps more, so I think its a fantastic job. I like your voice more than Steve's on this. (That may be blasphemy to some, but it's my true opinion). Great to hear you!! You picked a great one! :thumb: :thumb:

Never actually heard this song before (and I do like Journey ... a lot).

Sensitive interpretation there Bob. No faults there that I can detect. As for it being to an old friend ... think I can relate to that (only too well) ... Is that why you chose it?

Gets 5 from me bud' :thumb:

I'll have to look up Edge Of The Blade, I don't know it. Thanks for the compliment though.

You always give me WAY too much credit Serg, lol. This is high praise though, especially coming from the Ragin' Cajun himself.

Yes, I chose it specifically for her. She's a fan, lol. I was just trying to not butcher it. Thanks for checking it out.

Geez, you're quite the sensitive flower, huh Bob? I was a huge Journey fan and this song had a special meaning to me when it came out so I always have a soft spot for it. I may be biased but I always dig your interpretations on tunes and this is no exception. I was actually impressed by the fact you would try to sing any Perry tune and by the fact that this was done very well by you. This really is very good, bro. No shining you here. You should be out doing this on the side. As I said before I'd love to even do a once a month gig in South Jersey by the beach or AC or Philly with you if you ever gain free time - you can always give me a shout. Big props here!

Ah, you know me, I'm sensitive as shit, lol. I think you might be my biggest fan on this board, which means you're also probably MOST in need of a hearing check. Seriously, one of these days you and I are gonna do some acoustic shows or something and show folks how the big boys do it.

Would have been fun to hear a gblast guitarist do the Schon parts, but this was still a great listen. Hard to think of any of Steve Perry's stuff being low. This still requires a decent range and you've shown you have that range, plus the right amount of passion. Very nice indeed!!!

Great stuff, very well sang. Agreed with Ksdb, it´s much better to sing over real instruments (or should I say real-KNOWN people) than to a karaoke track who knows who recorded it. Might sound better that way, but it still is the same as playing guitar over a prefab BT guitar all by yourself imo. Just a self-solo-hey-here´s me against the machine kinda stuff. Anyways, nice pipes there man.

This one was truly spur of the moment so a collaboration was not possible. Given a choice, I'd rather share a track with one of the fine musicians here on Guitar Blast.
