Originally written by Steve Hogarth & John Helmer .From the LP ’Afraid of Sunlight’ and also released as a single in 1995.
I made the backing tract ,laid my vox then asked Tony for help. He added his beautiful guitar works ,though he ‘d never heard this song before. . Many thanks bro. It’s great to work with you.
nubrass also gave his shot with the real bass few bars on the intro ,he was too busy to do all the tract but this was good enough, many thanks my friend!! Later I added some chorus & decorated small pieces of acoustic guitar. I think this is a beautiful Marillion’ s song and hope you like it. 40844085

I can't say i know this song but you guys did beautiful work on this, its got a very laid back and somber feeling to it, both the guitaring and the vocals just carry you along in a trance almost :)
Tony lovely guitaring m8, im a fan of your acoustic and blues work , it was excellent to hear something abit diffrent from your array :D , Sol beautiful vocals aswell , you just have a perfect voice for these kind of tracks , lol i wish i had your range i really do vocal wise:woot:
5 stars fellas on a fantastic song

Excellent work on the backer Sol and Uke it sounds great,on what's a really sweet tune i'm hearin' now for the 1st time. Vox are top as usual but unfortunately with that telephone sound i've become accustomed to. Man ur post's would be unbelievable if ya could improve things there,SERIOUSLY!

In my opinion, you can NEVER have enough Marillion floating around. Guys, this was top notch. I'm constantly humbled by the amount of talent floating around this board and this track is a perfect example. Great playing, great backer, great vocals, great mix. Thanks for sharing it guys. 5 Stars from me.

I know this song very well. It is a stunning Marillion song. To me, it kind of embodies our very own GBlaster, Rain's, unique view on the world. She always seems to see some beauty in it.
I sent her the original a while back.
Well this is very good rendition. I would only echo how the vocals are a little low in the mix, because they really don't deserve to be missed as Hogarth did well on this tune.
But other than that, you just can't fault this one. A stellar job, one I have always wanted to do but really wouldn't know where to start on it.
Excellent job, you did really well on this one, as Marillion are not easy to do (as I well know) !

Well man, I almost forgot about this one, thanks for asking me to play guitar on it, it was a bit boring to play the same chord changes over and over, but at the end it sure pays if it´s sung like you did. I have to agree with Mondola you must pull up your vox in your tracks man. It deserves it. In fact this is all your tune, I only threw the electric guitar fingerpicking in, capo on the third, and there you go. All the hard (and beautiful, :)) work both singing and mixing is Solitude´s :wavey:
Just simply beautiful guys

Thx very much Mondola, petruccifreak, pkl,Tony,Mandy,Jamie,Netrom & Janelle
for all kind responses & useful comments,I've learned a lot from u my friends:woot:
It's a nice track. I stopped following Marillion before this one came out, so wasn't familiar with the tune. Sounds solid, but the vocals definitely needed to be higher in the mix. Guitar is mixed in perfectly and performed well!

5 man band from England. Fronted by Fish in the 80s. He left, and was replaced by Steve Hogarth, who is still with the band. Distinct difference between the two eras, but at the end of the day, still a wonderful group of musicians. Some real gems amongst their back catalogue.
You have to check out stuff like Garden Party, Incommunicado, and Forgotten Sons from the original line up, and Easter, Uninvited Guest and Hooks In You from the new line up.
Then it's up to you.
But yes, it is a nice song, just one of many that Marillion have recorded over the years.

Yeah man. Just kind of been away from the guitar for a while. However, I feel rejuvenated following encouragement from wahwah along with the fact I managed to get a recent posting out there that I am pleased with in terms of recording levels and how the final mix came about.
So I am going to try to close these other ones off that I half started over time.
No time limit on it as yet, but yes, it is amongst the ones that I want to complete, especially since the backer was so bloody brilliant !!!

I lost track of Marillion after Fish, and did not really like what I did hear of them, but this is a lovely song and I enjoyed it a lot. Mind you, that may have been due to Sol's excellent vocal performance. Great work on the guitaring too Uke!! 5 stars all round.
