I see one today marked on special it is the older one not newer large headstock guitar. It was gorgeous, the red color with maple neck. I like the thin coating and the idea of paint wearing as it ages.

Anyways, I have read these are great guitars. Is $566 a good deal, it is new at a store. I may try to get them to mark it down.

this is the model in question

I may go buy it tomorrow if it is still there. Up until now I have been playing a Squier Std Strat.

Please tell me pro's con's for the Hwy 1 Strat also...thx

Don't know much about Strats m8, if i had the money i would like one though lol:woot:
It has a alder body, so i imagine it will have a decent tone from it with the right pickups:toothless:

I'd say go for it. I have a Mexican made Fender Standard Stratocaster myself and once i slapped some new pickups on it and set it up to my liking it really became a VERY VERY GOOD guitar. These highway 1 strats are lovely and i happened to play one a short time ago in a guitar store in town. Very nice indeed. Play nicely (will play even nicer once set up to your liking) and sounded lovely. A Strat resonates like a strat. Sounds unique to itself... you can't go wrong. Especially with a tasty model like this. Go for it mate.

It may take a week or two to fully adjust to the feeling of playing a strat. Thats if you havent already. But its TOTALLY worth it in the end. TOTALLY.

I tried the 06 MIM std strat versus Highway 1 05 strat today.

I bought the 06 Mim std strat. I got them down to $350 out the door (so inclusive of TX sales Tax), it has the deluxe bag etc ...I am gonna try recording with it later and will post pics and soundclip

It just felt and sounded better to my ears than the 05 highway 1...but that was also a gorgeous guitar...could not justify the extra money right now for the Hwy 1

I got a black 2006 MIM STD Strat with a maple fretboard...I will get a pickup upgrade done on it in future and have a black pickguard dropped in at same time....it will look mega cool then :notme:

I am pleased with my purchase:rock:

Awesome. I have a 06 MIM Std Strat myself. Lovely little axe. Stuck some FENDER HOT NOISELESS STRAT PICKUPS in it and it sings. It also SCREAMS when i turn it up a bit. Look forward to seeing and hearing it soon :thumb:

Strats are awesome guitars. You could get a mid 90's MIA for 500 bucks. A few suggestions. MIM hot Strat, get a MIM and put a mini h/b in the bridge. I own 2 Strats both MIM. I have owned 2 MIA's and a MIJ. The MIJ was okay. The 94 MIA had problems that most of the 90's MIA's have. Crack in the neck pocket and pealing fret board. I don't care what anyone says, my 75 CBS Strat was the best one I have ever owned. It was awesome.

Looks lovely mate. Once you set that thing up and stick new pupps in it... it'll be a really really good guitar.

Very cool. My 99 Blackie is my number one. I used it to record all my Trower and the latest ZZ Top stuff.
