Hello everyone, here is a new kinda Jam we're going to trial here in the Collab forum, the idea is to get folks collabing, with people you have and haven't worked with before on a song.
As this is the first month, this is how its going to work.
You enter yourself for the Random Jam by posting here, clearly stating you are entering your name into the hat, and also write down the name and artist of a song you'd like to cover, one per person.
The thread will be open for two weeks (as its our first), once we have enough ppl signed up, all names will be entered into the Hat, 3 musicians will be picked at random, the three chosen will then be able to pick from any song that was entered into the comp by all the entrants, you get to decide between you.
The List of names and songs will be updated here:
Avalon - My Guitar Wants To Kill You Mama - G3
Naifazun - Lou Reed - Gassed And Stoked
Wahwah - Foxy Lady - Jimi Hendrix
Hansholz - Stuck in the middle with you - Steelers Wheels
Guitaral - Panama - Van Halen
Macman - Cold as Ice - Foreigner
3Fingers - Jessica - The Allman Brothers
Ukelele - Custard pie - Led Zep
Finally, a big thank you to Chris (Wahwah) for the core idea for the Random Jam Project :yourock: and lets see plenty of names down for this :thumb:
All feedback on the idea and anything else very welcome too btw :)

Cool idea as you don't know what song you will have to do. Also a bit scary as you don't know what song you will have to do  Only one of that three I know off the top of my head i Foxy Lady, but I cant imagine myself having much to offer to a G3 track..... No time this month anyway (Is it going to be monthly? Though in theory it should be quicker with a team on it, don't always work like that if one member gets delayed). Should throw up some interesting results.

Once the team is picked, it would be decided between them what song they actually do, so i would hope with enough entrys, there would be something for everyone, or a happy medium atleast :)
As for it being monthly, it might become more Bi-Monthly, since it takes alittle time for a few ppl to get everything sorted, for now atleast, i think it will work on a One Jam Ends, The Next Begins, for now atleast.
Maybe it would be cool to keep drawing names after the inital 3 and get 2,3 or 4 groups on the go, we'll just have to see how it go's really, and how everyone takes to it.

Well that would be by and large down to the Team that gets picked, some of the tracks, backers may exist for, others might need making, so its all things to bare in mind when you pick your song.
I should also point out, this is for everyone, vocalists, guitarists, bass players, anyone who wants to get involved :thumb:

Well you don't technically post a tune, you just add a song of your choice to the list of what can be covered by the entrants that get picked (and you obviously have to enter your own name into the hat at the same time), the idea is to get ppl collabing and having fun, maybe even trying something new.
I guess in most cases, the ppl who get picked will probably end up covering one of the tunes they submitted, but everyone adding a song gives options, and far better then just having a random track that no1 wants to cover.

.. Dont forget drummers!!! LOL
I think this is a great idea... I think it's important that we forget the accuracy of some of the covers you hear in GB.com and say to ourselves that this is a chance for 3 people who might not have collabed together before to take a song that they might not have heard before and put their take on it, within their own limitations. Also it's a great opportunity to learn from and develop their playing including some mixing, programming, backing track making skills... so it's all good.
I'm in...and I'm nominating "Stuck in the middle with you" by Steelers Wheels

Foreigner - Cold as Ice,
I did have a backing track I was working on but the wife said it sounded like Elevator music:lol: ...So it will need a good backer...
