Mine is still In Rainbows - Radiohead. Metal it most certainly isn't :wtf:
I'll ignore the concept of pay what you want because I will buy the CD version this weekend but to summarise; this has remained in the car since I downloaded it in October. I was actually worried because the album was so immediate I thought I would get bored of it quickly but its still going strong and gets listened to on an almost daily basis. Stand out tracks keep changing for me but the obvious? Nude, All I Need, Faust Arp and Videotape are all just stunning.
So come on!! what was your best album of 2007??

Alter Bridge - Blackbird
A stellar output. This has more in common with proper 70's Stadium Rock than it does the newer garbage. A must listen. High Energy, rich melodies, fantastic vocals, powerful guitar sound, great rhythmic qualities and excellent songwriting. This song alone is reason enough to adore this album.

Umm...there were albums released last year?
It really was a piss-poor year for music, but if I had to choose a top album, I'd say:
High School M....hmm.....Hanna..M...umm....do..bee.doo....rspr ay...
K, it's got to be:
Scorpions: Humanity Hour 1
runner up: Anouhska Shankar: Breathing Underwater

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
Quality album with stunning vocals. I've waited years for him to do a duet album with a female singer, well worth the wait.

I'd have to say Dream Theater, Rush, Symphony X, and the Dokken live one.
I really can't remember what I did and didn't buy though this year. :headscratch:
Still haven't listened to anything from the Radiohead album or The Eagles, so can't comment on those two.
Honorary mention has to go to the Thunder Six Of One EP that was enough to tide me over until then new album comes out sometime this year.

A song from here, a song from there for me...haven't had time to listen to a full album! BUT, tracks would be:
Breaking Benjamin - Diary of Jane
Paramore - Misery Business
Evil - Interpol
The Pretender - Foo's
Follow You Home - Nickelback
4 Words To Choke Upon - Bullet For My Valentine
oh...maybe Paulo Gilberto's 'Get Out Of My Yard' was 2007...if so, THAT one!
Most of these wouldn't even class as 2007 I think but these are the ones that got me.

I think it would be Radiohead - In Rainbows and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand for me. Both already mentioned, and I agree with what you guys already said about both these albums.
Favourite track on in rainbows right now is "All I Need" and on Raising Sand "Stick With Me Baby". Very beautiful songs.
Another album worth a mention is The Killers "Sawdust". Some really great tracks on there, especially "Tranquilize" that they do together with Lou Reed.
Oh yeah, and another great album that I just realized also was released in 2007 is Okkervil River - The Stage Names. Really nice pop kinda album there too.
Seems I've been starting to like this sort of music more and more. Getting soft with age maybe :p

Just listened to the first few tracks of this whilst having dindins with Ellie (spaghetti and sauce) mainly because it was one of only two albums I have on this pc in the house (there's 60GB on the PC in the studio but haven't bothered putting any on the house PC cos I'm rarely on it). Thought 'Nude' was beautiful...like something Prince might have done a lot of years ago. '15 Step' also very good but the 'drum track on 'Bodysnatchers' killed it dead for me...probably trying to be too clever. Like most of what I'm hearing tho...big improvement on 'Hail To The Thief'...

I second that. Symphony X was amazing.
Another completely amazing album in 2007 was Allen/Lande, the Revenge.
