What do you hafta do besides being a mod to get 5 stars in your profile?? Just curious..

It has nothing to to with being a mod. Some of the Admins and mods don't have 5 stars. People just give you a rating in your profile if they feel like it.:)

Gave you a 5, yet now your average is 4.00 dead. How strange. The whole thing is a bit daft and probably shouldn't even be there but nvm eh. You can disable it if you want. I went down to 3 for a while and after I got over being really offended found it kind of amusing to see how childish we could all be with it :lol:. But seriously, divvn't let it bother you.

It really has no impact on anything at all. It's about the music and the interaction here right? If people take the time to listen and comment on your music, isn't that the main thing? Don't let it get you down. Just play the best music you can and enjoy yourself. Cheers.

Aye, me too. I never really understood what that was all about. I mean there are threads that go without any stars on here at all. I always take that to mean that this means that they aren't regarded as very good. However, when you actually look at the voting system it is thus:

5 stars: Excellent
4 stars: good
3 stars: Average
2 stars: Bad
1 star: Terrible

I never realised that until I looked at it. Most threads I have seen are either no stars or 5 stars, so it kind of makes the 1-4 star ratings a bit redundant.

I couldn't imagine why someone would give a rating of 1 star to something on here though...

I'd imagine the lower than 5 profile rating would be down to someone misclicking or not understanding the system properly as I didn't. i.e. I thought any number of stars was better than no stars, but now I've actually looked at the system, it apears that is not the case.

But I wouldn't worry about it mate. I didn't understand the profile stars, and it's anonymous too. You're a better player than me, that's pretty obvious. Why I have 5 stars under my avatar is beyond me. :headscratch: However, when you consider what this site is about, it's hardly deserved, as I haven't posted or fedback that frequently as I used to do in ages.

The voting system in general on this board, and most others, just flat out sucks anyway. There's plenty of quality work on here that gets no stars and ZERO attention while the converse is true. I wouldn't worry about it one bit. When it comes to your musical portfolio, the best thing to do is set up a soundclick or myspace, etc. account under either your real name, band name, just about any other name other than what you use on this forum. This will get your music out there and present it globally in an unbiased fashion. This should help you ascertain a good indication of "how many stars" you deserve.

There's been times were out of honesty I would quite happily have given a 1 star rating. But I've stopped short for two reasons.
1. I don't (and never will) contribute anything of my own for people to compare against.
2. It's frowned upon if you're not anything other than praising (unless you're Danny), anyway, to some no response says a hell of a lot more than a straight put down can ever do.

Criticism has certainly helped me as a player. God knows, there's enough there to take your pick to criticise and very little to praise, so why go for the difficult option ? Pull my playing apart !
