Anyone besides 3fingers and I play Counterstrike or Team Fortress 2? Actually, there are other online games I enjoy as well. I figured anyone who's into the PC gaming thing might like to chime in and add themselves to the list this way we might find some good gaming action between ourselves. Any interest? Anyone? Beuller? Anyone?

I'm not really up to spec on what's hot and what's not in the world of games. A plethora of games lie unfinished on my hard drive with the exception of Duke Nukem, Max Payne, and Puzzle Bobble !
However, one game I thought was fun to play online was Midtown Madness. There was something funny about chasing you mate around the streets of London and San Francisco. I used to love ramming my friend off the Golden Gate bridge.
Like I say, not an up to date game, but just tonnes of fun !

Put me down for Counter Strike... I am sickened by the speed of that game and the kids who play it.
I am RUBBISH at it, but on the odd occasion I am creeping up behind a terrorist and I trip and my gun goes off in the back of their head :D....I feel a tremendous sense of achievement and that everything is right in the world.
Still, I guess you guys are old and slow enough for me to get some frags in. Hehe.... Bring it on! :thumb:

If it's anything like Unreal Tournament, I couldn't finish respawning before some fecker had fragged me again with a headshot ! I never even got to see tha bastard, and just spent 10 minutes or so hitting the space bar repeatedly to respawn !
All I'd ever hear is someone saying, "I am the alpha and the omega" for 10 minutes, along with reading the text, "You've been killed, hit space to respawn".
Probably why I gave up online gaming !!!

I don't play CS but I do play Day Of Defeat. I don't enjoy CS,.because the game play is so different that DOD. I also like the way DOD is like an old school war game. I've tried CS alot of times,..but I always go back to DOD.

I like DoD and Team Fortress as well.
Yes, I made a typo with the title. My bad.
So, the best way to do this is via steam. We can add one another, text chat, and VoIP. We have CS, DoD, and TF2 so far. This is great.
Any more takers? Sergio? Where are you?

I downloaded and installed 3DMark06 (limited freeware version). It's a pretty sizeable download - geez. Anyway, here's a visual on the results I just scored using unoptimized drivers and no overclocking of either CPU or GPU. I am not running in dual SLI. This is a single 512mb 8800GT and a Q6600 2.4ghz CPU system with 3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz. OS is Windows Vista Home Premium.

I have only been invited to join 1 clan in my onlife lifetime...and that is ETQW..for me that's my game for now, however, the free download RTCW:ET is free and has some of the best gameplay period. I will meet any of you guys there. It's superb imo. I will do CS, but it's one shot one kill, and I am not Superman, so I die lots!! But either Quake Wars Enemy Teritory, or good old (and totally free http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041/news.php. The graphics aren't great, but imo, there has never been an online game with that much "pull" if you will. I love it like Pookie loves Crack!!! :)

I'm not really much into online games anymore since I've got my PS3, however, I will say that there are no words to describe the World of Warcraft experience. It really is one of the best games you'll ever play until you realize how repetitive, pointless, and boring it is (but that wont happen for a few months, so enjoy it!)

Charles, download steam for free and for a mere $19 bucks you can download CS Source. C'mon now the Looney is quite powerful as of late. :)

Shouldn´t you be helping changing the baby´s diappers, mixing powder milk, waking up 5 times through the night and all that usual stuff by nowadays? :p
I´d be willing to play as well, would be fun. Still have steam installed, naked without the games. Easy fix. But I guess latency wouldn´t let my bullets get there in time, as they´d prolly stop in the middle of the pond. Usually I have around 50 -60 ping when playing over at Uk-German servers, but when I´ve played over at some east coast one it raised up to 150 at the least. No prob, I´ll snipe ya´ll in no time, :P

It's really a great game to play and we can find a server where we can all meet up. Just don't hit me with a Hockey stick...;)

I understand Jamie, but this game runs on minimum specs. You don't need a powerhouse PC at all. In fact...what's nice is it won't even help if you do.
Mostly gaining experience points by achieving certain goals gives you things like faster reload, better health, things like that. It's a game that was made years ago. I am confident anyone with a PC made since 2000 could play it. ;)

This game is totally free. Trust me..if any of you can run UT even the first version...this will work..no problems. Lets get some more thoughts. We can all start on a neutral server where all our XP (experience points) are zero and work from there. We can even join up our own "fireteam" which means we all can communicate with eachother in game and help each other out. It's really one of the most interactive gripping games I have played. Now note this though: If you join a server where "XP" (experience Points are kept), you will be slightly frustrated. Find a server that does not save XP and that will be the one we can meet up on. If I have to, I will setup a private server in my home. I need PG to help me with the config, but I have a few PC's we can run this from and I try and find a way to keep it on 24/7 for you guys to have fun on. Cheers!

I am not using 2.60b. Never had an issue without it. Download the maps though:
http://www.fileplanet.com/89158/80000/fileinfo/Return-to-Castle-Wolfenstein-GOTY-Map-Pack
If I have to I will upload my whole game folder...you can run it from your PC. When I upgraded to Vista, I just copied that folder and it works fine...just pulled a shortcut to the desktop, but nothing was "registered" in Windows when I did. Check your firewall also. It may be restricting you.

Sergio it was a bitch but I got it to work with 2.60. I scrapped the 2.06b nonsense. Still runs a little weird in Vista so I may just play this on the XP laptop since the requirements are so low anyway.
So...do you run a server?

Whew! I bet that sucked indeed. I don't run a server, but these "guys" accidentally left a cable modem line open at my house even after I long ago canceled their service. I use DSL now, but that cable line is still active. And I do have several PC's and an actual server I can run from the house. But...I have a feeling they will catch on. But if there is enough interest, I may hook one up and run one.
What I would rather do though is hook up on an already established server. Rather than mentioning the names here, I will reply to where we will be playing via PM to anyone who wants to "fun and gun."
Or conversely, if any of you find a server you like, PM the name or IP and we can all join in.

No I don't recommend the GameSpy crud. I have not ever used it for this game.
Be sure on the drop down menu that you are playing "Internet" game, as opposed to LAN or IP. Check if your firewall is letting you out.
I basically created a player name, picked my options for resolution, sound, keyboard layout, a went online. There is a button that says "play online" and then right under it says "filter" and that is where you change it to say "Internet" and then refresh and see all the servers line up. You can sort by number of people, or ping. See if that helps. I know it's simple, but there can't be much more to it that that. Don't install the GameSpy crud though. It's trash imo.

That server seems perfect as a starter. It's got "Bots" and they are easy kills. They are quite stupid..LOL. But you can practice aim, techniques, learn the classes (Soldier, Medic, Field Ops, or Covert Ops). In the short while I was there...(about an hour)...there was only one human opponent, and he was on my team. :) We should try this one sometime. Then move on to better "all human" servers.

True man I had a total blast playing Vanilla BF!! But once the Desert Combat mod was made and DCX, I stopped playing Vanilla. Loved the Apaches, and Bradleys etc.. COD4 for the 360 is the most realistic FPS i've played to date. My PC doesnt have a 1/4 the power of the 360.
