I'm pretty sure that if you replace it with that tube,..your gain will decrease. I would call TheTube store to be sure.They are great guys! http://thetubestore.com/

I would not do it. Stick with the 12ax7 but perhaps a different flavor?

Well. It's about time to replace my tubes anyway. Would like a matching set but I was told the Hot Rod Deluxe doesn't hafta be re biased.

Need 3-12ax7's and 2- 6L6's.

The guy on Eurotubes was very helpful. My amp does have to be rebiased, but he said he has a video how to do it. He also said there is a Blues tube kit that I can order to warm up the o/d channel. Thanks again bro!

Just have fun!!! All my amps have JJ's in them (preamp and powertube). I love them!! Best tubes I have ever used! They are fantastic and have lots of detail and definition.

If he is sending a video on how to bias, you will still need tools (like a Bias Probe, multimeter), but take the amp in and have someone do it. It will "wake up your amp" and give you some new life. I love a good tube tone, but even the best amps need a good tech sometimes. Get the tubes, have them Biased, and then report back. Typical bench charge for this should be about $35. But worth it as you amp will sound better and the tubes will last longer.
