Well we can always get another going mate , if we have enough interest :)
It was a fantastic song which everyone did incredible on, mind you i would redo the second part to my solo if it was put out anywhere , cos i know i could do much better on it now :)

Hey guys, No doubt the song has serious strength. I dunno, I think the copyright thing becomes an immediate question mark... How do we get everyone included, etc... Aside from that though, I'd be interested to see how it held up on a soundclick page, see it's success on their charts system, etc... Maybe enter it in some song contests out on the net maybe? Divide up whatever comes of it? Put any tangible prizes (if we should win) up on auction with e-bay, split the dough? Wah Wah gave me some insights to the copyright thing, but it didn't give "drums" much stake in the song, which I thought was wrong. I really think it should be split equally among all involved. Maybe some of you feel different? I'm open to your thoughts and ideas.

It was a GREAT piece of work from all involved. I think it's probably not gonna generate any interest from cash type things but I agree it should be posted on some suitable forums where it can be shown and the full story told. Mybe the Guitarblast myspace site for a starters?

First off,..I think the song has alot of potential. I think it needs to be remixed as I think the over all level of the song is a bit to hot. But other than that I think it's a great tune. If others wanted to redo a part,..that would be cool too. Sometimes the first take on a song is the best. When ya try to redo parts,..sometimes it just doesn't sound the same! Ya know what I mean? Anyway,..if anyone can promote it somehow,..lets do it! If it takes off,..we just split the proceeds for everyone that was involved. I think it's worth a shot. My wife loves it and she not a rock person by all means,..but she thinks it's worth looking into! I put it on my sons iPod and he loves it too!

Johnny, I hear what you're saying, I do. The more places you put it out to, the higher the chances people are going to 'lift it' and use it for their own purposes. I'm not worried about the folks that are going to throw it on their iPods... that was the whole reason for doing it. But I can tell you for sure that if the tune is as good as we all know it is, and someone else trys to take ownership of it and it did end up going somewhere........... I'm going to feel horrible. Not for me, as much as for you guys who put your creativities into it. All I'm saying is, let's try and get you guys in place with the full credit for the song, then spam it all over the universe. It's great to say "Lets' do it". Now take the lead and find out what needs to be done to protect it first. Nobody objected the last time I put it out there. As for re-mixing it... I'm not hearing it hot, but it's definitely worth getting everyone's critique on it and going forward from there. IMO, I really think it's the difference between the mastering that's done on pro stuff. Personally, I think re-doing anything is only going to take away from the track for the reason you mentioned, the first take being the best. Aside from that, if one person changes... everyone is going to want to. The problem I have with that... it totally contradicts what this project was all about. It really does. I'm not saying I wouldn't follow whatever the group wants, but you'll lose the "story" and what it was "all about" part when you promote it, by dipping back into it. Doing re-takes will definitely make it something else, less unique and special in design IMO. I think it's conception far out weighs anything that anyone of you could perhaps do better ( you guys delivered beyond superior performances, truly, I feel like it would be trying to out-do perfection ). With all of that put aside....... Do what? We need more than a fist up in the air and good intentions. i.e. so-and-so is going to investigate college's with on campus radio stations and try to get in touch with some of their on air talent to see if they'll play the song. so-and-so(b) is going to google up some song contests and submit the work, credits and backstory. So-and-so(c) knows somebody who he can get to listen to it that might have some contacts. There needs to be somewhat of a 'plan' and some ownership of the tasks involved.

I mean absolutely NO disrespect whatsoever and I certainly don't want to come off like a nay sayer. But we all know that if it were easy to do........ I wouldn't be replying to this thread from my cubicle, I'd be doing it from the tour bus. This is just my 2 cents, maybe there are even more things that should be considered that some of you have thought about?

I know what you saying bro,..It's just that I have no idea how to do this!?
If I did I would have done something by now. I just hadn't listen to this tune in a few months and then we got our son an iPod for Christmas and I said sure I'll put some tunes on it for ya,..and that was one of them. I listened to it before I uploaded it to his iPod and I was like holy shit!,. this is good! It's kinda a bummer that this isn't being played on the radio. Hey!...even if it's a one hit wonder,...think about that! It needs to be played. I think it's that good and worth the time to put into it.
Does anyone have any ideas of what we can do?

Well, I did a little searching and found this site if ya's want to check it out! I have no clue if this is something that we can use? If this is,..I would need everyones information that was involved! It seems to me and what I read on this site,..that this is what we need to do first! It's only $59 and I would be willing to put the money out myself.
Let me know if I'm on the right track here!

OK,..I went a little deeper on this matter! Check out this web site. http://www.copyright.gov/

The filling fee is $45 to get our tune copy written. I need to fill the form out send them $45 along with a copy of the song. I talked to the US copy write office this morning and they said it would take 6 months to receive the copy write certificate and then the song can be distributed with no worries. After this takes place we can put it on any web site (for purchase) or what ever anyone can do with it,.to remote the tune.

If everyone is into getting this copy written that was involved,.. please PM me with your information. Name, address, phone number, what part you performed in the song and what ever other information you think is needed or necessary.

Well, I think this is a great step. After it's copy written we can start to promote it and it will be legal. Ya, never know,..this could turn into something big,..and if we just sit on it,..we'll never know
of what could have happened. I think it's worth a shot. Do I hear a possible one hit wonder!!?? We'll see!

Also,.when the song was being recorded by all of us,. I took it upon myself to encrypt the date when I laid my bass part down to a CD and I also burned the Cakewalk Bundle to the CD too. After the song was complete,. (before it was posted here!),.. I burned the finished product to a CD and also encrypted the date when it was finished. It's now put away in a safe place,..Just in case of any problems before the copy write takes place.

IMO,..I think it won't be an issue anyway,..because if anyone would copy the tune to sell,..we have proof right here on Guitar Blast when it was recorded with all the posts that where going back a forth about the tune! The posts have a date and time of when each post was posted.

Have a great weekend everyone and I hope something comes out of this!

Ill just chip in and out here, but this collab was one of the 1st tunes i heard on this site and i was blown away by every aspect of it. To have a totally random set of people create such a brilliant piece of work all through email AND blindly at that!!! I hope you guys get everything you want from it, whether its other forum exposure or hard cash, you'll deserve it!!! I listen to it almost daily! Good luck.
