Hey Guys,

Well got myself a little bonus at work so thought I'd treat myself to a 2nd Axe. It was only 6 months ago I got my Ibanez SA Prestige but decided I wanted a Les Paul type axe to go with the SA which is very strat like. So now I have a couple of axes that'll keep me going for a very long time (just as well with the Wife!). My new Axe is a Hamer Studio SATF. Its an import version, not a US model unfortunately, but seeing as my Ibanez is also asian made, I have no issue with that LOL. The build quality is awesome, I'm very happy with it, the only sick thing about it is that it sounds just as good as my more expensive Ibanez and cost a 3rd of the price (Ģ300) and I'm sure it goes cheaper on the net. I played one of these before getting my SA and loved it, but the model at the time was shop soil and I wanted a single coil type guitar also, so this was always on the agenda to get. I'll probably upgrade the hardware to Tonepros Tuners and Bridge set and maybe get a set of Seymours in there but that's way down the line. As is, it plays very well, better than the Ibanez did until I got it set up.

Anyways here's a pic of my new Hamer and one of my Ibanez as well!

I'm now very happy with my rig!. :)

Cheers Jamie, yep its definately a bargain, very tasty guitar, I will be using it on the collab as well :thumb: its great having a twin humbucker with fixed bridge guitar along with the single coils of my Ibanez, now I can't say to my missus that I need another axe LOL...

Hey Lippy, I can definately recommend the Hamer's. I've heard the US ones are very sweet (and expensive) but quality of their XT range judging from my one is very high.:thumb:

Cheers Johnny, I'm a bit of a sucker for transparent burst guitars, now have a flame cherry sunburst with the Hamer and Honey Sunburst with the Ibanez. Its definately a great second guitar and I think will get just as much attention as my Ibanez...:thumb:

Looks great...classic Hamer shape not unlike the Yamaha SG range. I know the Explorer shape Lippy means..Phil Collen used to play one before his Jackson endorsement. Enjoy it mate...you can never have too many guitars. :)

Wouldn't that be the black Ibanez Destroyer (off the "Photograph vid') with 3 x V2 pups and trem? Or am I out by a couple of years?

Played that un also a couple of years earlier as you say. This was a sunburst one like most I've seen over the years. I think Rick Savage also had a penchant for them on the bass side also.

I've always loved Hamers, and this particular model. I would have loved to get a US one but they are very expensive and my popularity credit with the Wife is running low ! LOL. I'll upgrade the hardware in time as its definately a keeper. Cheers Chris.

There was a Hamer dealer in the West End about 15 years ago and he had the lot. I remember trying a Steve Stevens model that was amazing. He's not about anymore as he was down near Cambridge Circus which was a bit far away from all the Denmark Street action.

Yep, I remember that one mate, stumbled upon it one day on my lunch break, they had a few with graphics as well. That Steve Stevens model was awesome, loved that one as well, The Diablo and Californian with the extra frets made me drool, could'nt even play guitar back then, could only dream mate!, then I fell down to reality and went to the denmark st. shops with keyboard departments, LOL. That's how I learnt how to solo on keyboards with pitch sticks and wheels, by spending hours in music stores (can't count the amount of times I was asked to leave LOL!). Arrrh the good ol'days.:;):

Wow! That headstock is BIG! Just like the one on my E guitar, lol. At the end, what matters is how it plays. How does it feel Justin? Do you feel comfortable playing it? Looks fairly a neat guitar to play sat in a chair like I usually do. No string buzzing with a low action?

Hey Tone, its a pretty wide headstock, but the guitar is pretty streamline, not as bulky as a Les Paul or even a PRS, its very nice to play indeed, I too tend to sit down when practicing or recording (unless I'm posing in the mirror using my rockstar pout! LOL) and is lighter than my ibanez. If the setup is factory, its the best damn factory setup I've play, low action, stays in tune well and just as good sound wise as my Ibanez although, slightly different tone with the twin humbuckers, so nice to have two different axe's. I'm preferring the Hamer to my Ibanez at the mo, but could be a new guitar thing!. Id be gutted if I end up liking this better than the Ibanez as that cost me a lot, could of got 3 of these for that one,LOL.

I understand man, you know, just talking as a bedroom player here, lol. You know Justin, (talkin selfishly here, lol), Iīm used to playing sat with my acoustic so thatīs why I bought a DOT. Of course us southpaws ainīt got much a choice,. The two humbuckers plus the pod xtl properly tweaked gives me a lot of sounds, but I badly want a twangy single coil.

I do feel for you lefties with the choice you have, I am actually left handed myself! but I forced myself to play right handed as my older Brother advised me that there is a limitation in what guitar choice is available, back then it was even worse. My friend at the moment is wanting a Fender Strat US but he cannot get the John Mayer Sig which he wants in a left version.

I reckon you'd benefit alot from a guitar with Single coils, I reckon a nice strat would be a great addition to your rig Bro!...what with those great chops you have...:thumb:

Not recorded anything yet Tone...but give me time, I will. My darn headphones crapped out on me the other day, they were Behringer ones which I had for a while so it was inevitable really! LOL. Got some nice AKG K171's coming tomorrow so will be back playing my guitars after a few days away.:)

Hehe! Sounds cool. Speaking of headphones,..I sure need a new set too. I have two sets, an elcheapo Akai which I never use and a really old Pioneer, it belonged to my dad back in the day, go figure, LOL! Poor thing is all beat up but it still sounds good to me. I deffinately need to grab me new ones.

Well I can certainly recommend the AKG K171 headphones, they are closed back, so they do not bleed the sound coming out, would be great for vocals as well as nothing will come out and bleed into the mic.

Hey Mart,

I really love this axe. So much so, I've no desire to play the Ibanez at all now. Been playing it nonstop since getting it. I want another one now (a US Hamer Studio Custom or P90) so will have to save up for it and possibly use the Ibanez to help pay for it as well. The Wife's gonna love me :) NOT!.
Used my Hamer on the March Jam and loved how it sounds as well as feels (even though the electronics and hardware are cheap)

Ahh excellent mate , then i look forward to hearing it in action , shame you might have to get rid of the SA though, but still sacrifices must be made musn't they lol :D

Well I thought the SA was the perfect guitar for me until I got the Hamer, I just want to play that one now so would be nice to have a handbuilt US version as well, don't mind sacrificing the SA for that!
