This is a cover of my homegirl Martina McBride, who is from Kansas. She has become a country music superstar (picked four times as female vocalist of the year). My wife is a big fan, so I thought it would be cool to try one of Martina's songs. Had remembered some great projects that Laurie and Bearman007 had posted, so I asked for their help and they delivered big time! Laurie is an extremely talented vocalist and Bearman added to the harmony parts and did the final mixdown on the project. Many thanks to them for doing such an amazing job.

I went for a rock attitude on the backer and experimented with Guitar Rig 3 for some of the guitar tones (intro and solo). I played the bass on this too. Hope you guys like it!

Really enjoyed this, excellent performance all round. Kind of reminded me of "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey for some reason.

There was a movie I saw called "switchback" that had this excellent song on it.
I had to find out who she was. Turned out to be Martina Mcbride. I had never heard of her. The song was called "Where I used to have a heart." That is one excellent song, and if you are taking requests...that would be mine.

Excellent excellent vocals!! You definitely should be doing this for a living!!
This soung came out fantastic. Nice guitars, very nice bass. Super mix. Just perfect!! 5 stars!! Wish I could give more!!

Hey, thanks for the nice comments guys! Joe did a great job on the backer, and when he invited Laurie do the vocals, it got our juices flowing again. He was very patient with us...Laurie had been having trouble with allergies that was causing some of the roughness in her voice. We had to do the vox in several sessions, but we found out it was just allergies and nothing more serious
Anyway, thanks again and we'll be posting some new songs. Had several on hold until her voice cleared up.

Thanks for all the nice comments. That bass guitar part was surprisingly complex, but fun to play. They hire great session musicians in Nashville who make this stuff sound effortless. Reproducing the sound and style can be a real challenge. Will check out that song that Serg recommended. I'm not that much of a country fan, but some of this contemporary country crosses over pretty good with rock.

Thanks SteveG, SG, and Bahamut! And props to Joe for the backer. I'm after him to lay down a bass track for me on another project when he has time...family first, right Joe?

So hard to get free time lately. Here's my night owl, I mean baby girl, who keeps my free time occupied lately. This was taken around 11 o'clock ... a night where she actually feel asleep somewhat early, for her.

Wow, what a cutie!! You're a lucky guy Joe :thumb:
With her preference for late hours, she's definately on her way to being a singer/musician....keep your eye on her. You think you're not getting any sleep now......:D

Really quite an incredible job on this gang!!! I too like a little of the contemporary country stuff myself. Joe...another killer job on the backer bro!! Great guitars, bass, and drums!! And Bear & Laurie, absolurely STELLAR job on the vocals.....from the flanged out intro, thru that lovely layered chorus, truly KICKASS!!!! And for what it's worth Laurie, the raspiness in your vocal just added an edge to it that Martina would die for!!!! Great job y'all!!!!!:yourock:
